Etherscan is the leading BlockChain Explorer, Search, API and Analytics Platform for Ethereum, a decentralized smart contracts platform. Built and launched in 2015 it is one of the earliest and longest running independent project built around Ethereum and its community with the mission of providing equitable access to blockchain data.

Today I will introduce you to 11 useful functions of Etherscan.

  1. Gas Tracker

Check the real-time gas price and airdrop information.

If you’re not in a hurry, it’s perfectly fine to wait until gas prices are low before interacting.

Also you can check historical gas price in the past 7 days, which gives you a more comprehensive reference.

2. Revoke Token Approvals

Connect to your wallet first.

Here shows all your approved spender. Simply choose the ones that you would like to revoke with.

3. Check Token Holdings

Search for an address and click on the wallet logo on the far right of the Token column to see its tokens holdings, including all tokens, LP tokens, and NFT holdings for that address. You can do this to either your own wallet or others’.

Here shows the token holdings of SBF’s wallet.

4. Smart Contract of NFT

Get the contract address of a NFT and then search on Etherscan.

Contract > Write Contract > Link to wallet > Find mint > Fill in the total price and quantity > Click Write > Confirm in your wallet.

5. Chat Through Wallet

6.Token & NFT Information

Search for a specific token or NFT, you can get detailed information, such as the contract address, total supply, and top 100 holders.

7.Holder Watchlist

After finding the holders, you can add them to your watchlist to track the latest actions of them.

To successfully create your watchlist, you need to register an account first. And you will receive an email once there’s any change of the wallet you are looking at.

8. Anti-Fraud Function

Etherscan has a feature for flagging suspicious and phishing addresses.

When you log in to Etherscan, you can see a “Token Ignore List” feature that hides all token transactions that are flagged by Etherscan as suspicious, unsafe, spam or brand infringement from the address page. You can create your own ignore list on this page.

9. Multi-Chain Search

https://blockscan.com/

Besides Etherscan, the team also developed other 20 blockchain browsers. Just enter an address on this site and you can search for that address on all supported EVM chains.

In addition, there is a “b” button on the right side of the address on Etherscan, you can also click on it to go directly to other 20 browsers.

10. More Functions for Developers

There are two new functions developed in 2021, which are Smart Contract Search and Contract Diff Checker.

Smart Contract Search: users can search for keywords in all verified Ethereum smart contracts.

Contract Diff Checker: allows developers to compare the differences between two smart contracts.

11. Risk Warning

There will be a reminder in front of risky tokens and the transaction interface contains risky tokens. And the reminder will also show on the Txn hash that contains tokens without updated information.
