What could be a better way to onboard users onto crypto than NFT gaming or Play-to-Earn (P2E)? Have fun while earning money? Sounds like one of those sketchy jobs that I get offered on Telegram occasionally. However, there is just one big problem. Further building on what Speicherx has said, most P2E games are games that are built around a tokenised economy. I feel that it is the wrong approach and has led to these games ending up as animated yield farms. No matter how much the shills try to delude themselves, many P2E games are low in quality, bland and repetitive. Only in crypto you can see people praising games that looked like they were created by a student who just took a Unity crash course. Luckily for us LUNAtics, Com2uS, a Korean gaming Unicorn, is collaborating with C2X to create an all-in-one blockchain gaming platform on Terra.
C2X aims to make NFT games, including familiar titles such as Summoners War and has avoided using the term P2E in their whitepaper. As Com2uS is a AAA gaming company, the focus is to have tokenised economies built around the games which are the main focus. They plan to do this by offering an open-sourced software development kit (SDK) to game developers who wish to have their games on the C2X platform. Essentially, game developers will be able to focus on building fun games and easily make them P2E with the SDK, allowing for much easier adoption. This would include access to C2X station (a crypto wallet), C2X’s NFT marketplace as well as no-code smart contracts.
For now, C2X’s games are free-to-play, which greatly lowers the barriers to entry for NFT games. If any of you have tried playing NFT games, chances are you had to spend tens, if not hundreds of dollars to purchase NFTs that would give you full access to the gameplay. Most gamers hate NFT or rather P2E games precisely because they not only have atrocious gameplay, but were also expensive to play. With C2X’s all-in-one platform, gamers will not only be able to enjoy full gameplay without forking out money, but they will also be able to learn more about the crypto space by using the built-in wallet and NFT marketplace.
Games in C2X will each have their unique tokens, and these tokens can be exchanged for other games’ tokens in the C2X station such that the games can be played interchangeably. Not only that, but players will also be able to swap their tokens for LUNA or UST. In my opinion, this is extremely bullish for Terra as players may eventually need to convert their tokens to UST, which is more stable in value, to cash out their money. This can drive more adoption of UST indirectly.
C2X also recognises the problem of the decline of the value of game items when the game itself starts to decline. To prevent this, NFT items obtained in a specific game can be converted to use any other game within the C2X ecosystem in addition to the original game. This allows for the preservation of the value of NFTs and prevents them from being illiquid and worthless. As a past victim, I truly appreciate this feature.
All in all, C2X’s blockchain gaming platform greatly lowers barriers to entry to crypto gaming, by making it extremely easy for both game developers and gamers to come on board. With all of these happening on Terra, gaming could be the gateway to converting the mass public to LUNAtics. I feel this is amazing for Terra and mass adoption suddenly seems a lot more probable.
