The Crypto Heroes in 2022: Those Who Have Livened up the Crypto Industry
Continuing the list of crypto heroes in 2022, this article adds three figures who have contributed to the crypto market in different ways. Yet, the results and effects are positive to build a much more sustainable future for cryptocurrencies.
Jerry Brito
Jerry Brito has silently done a lot of critical work to save crypto from being crumbled. Specifically, as the Executive Director of Coin Center, he made the decision of suing the government office as a response to the Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control’s ban on Tornado Cash.
Brito clarified the possibility of entire blockchain protocols being banned if the sanctions are passed. It means banning Tornado Cash can be just the first step in blocking Bitcoin or Ethereum in the future.
Of course, Coin Center is not the only firm to hit out against the sanctions. Yet, Brito’s contribution to protecting the crypto industry still deserves huge praise. As it supports crypto and privacy rights and builds a much more sustainable future.
Jesse Powell
Although stepping down from the CEO position at the helm of Kraken, Jesse Powell is still a discerning voice in the crypto community. He spent time and effort speaking out about many controversial and worth-being-discussed topics, such as economic freedom, privacy rights, and the crypto ethos.
Powell warned crypto users of centralized exchanges like FTX and urged them to take their funds off amid worries about freezing assets responding to the Canadian government’s threats. He still continued Kraken accounts of ordinary Russians without legal requirement when Ukraine accepted crypto donations. He is also the top critic of Tornado Cash sanctions.
Peter McCormack
Peter McCormack is famous for his Bitcoin-focused podcast, What Bitcoin Did. Yet, it does not bring him to this list but his notable stand against Craig S. Wright in court. For those who are not familiar with Craig S. Wright, he proclaimed himself as the Bitcoin creator, also known as Satoshi Nakamoto.
McCormack stated “Craig Wright is a fucking liar, and he’s a fraud, and he’s a moron; he is not Satoshi,” in one 2019 interview. Wright also turned to the courts to go against McCormack, however, it shone a light on Wright’s claims and McCormack’s criticisms. The fun part is that Peter McCormack had to pay a humiliating £1 in damages!
