In a far-off land, there stood two fortresses. The first was a grand and imposing structure, built with stones so closely fitted that not even a blade of grass could grow between them. The walls were tall and thick, and the gates were heavily guarded. It was a fortress of secrets, where none were permitted to see the stones of the rampart until the war came. The residents of this fortress were fiercely protective of their secrets and kept them locked away from the outside world, believing that it was their greatest strength. They believed that by keeping their secrets hidden, they would be able to protect themselves from any possible threats.

The second fortress was different. It was openly built, with stones that were rough and worn, but placed with care and precision. The walls were not as tall as the first fortress, but they were built with a sturdy foundation and the residents could see how it was built. They were welcome to inspect every inch of it and could see the work and effort put into building the fortress. The residents of this fortress believed in the power of transparency and were not afraid to share their secrets with the world. They believed that by being open and transparent, they would be able to build a stronger fortress and foster trust with others.

As the years passed, the first fortress remained impregnable, but the second fortress grew stronger with each passing day. The residents of the second fortress were proud of their work and were not ashamed to show it to the world. They welcomed in outsiders, shared their knowledge and expertise with them and worked together to build a stronger fortress.

And then, one day, the war came. The enemy army marched towards the first fortress, its walls towering high and imposing. The residents of the first fortress had always been confident in their secrets and believed that they would protect them from any harm. But as the enemy army approached, they began to realize the fatal flaw in their defense. They had not prepared for the possibility of defeat, and their secrets were not enough to save them. The enemy easily breached the walls, and the first fortress fell.

In the aftermath of the war, the residents of the first fortress were left to pick up the pieces of their shattered fortress, while the second fortress stood proud and strong. The moral of the story is that closed blockchain projects can be very dangerous. They may seem impregnable, but in the end, it is the openness and transparency that makes a fortress truly strong. Open projects can build stronger foundations, foster innovation and create a more resilient ecosystem.
