There are thousands of unidentified people across the world and it’s impossible to highlight them all. As a result, we often only hear about famous cases with lots of mysterious clues, information, and theories. The cases that get attention from organizations are often these famous cases as well. It is much easier to be drawn towards cases that have been well researched and have an abundance of information. In turn, it is then easier for organizations to get support and funding when they take on these cases. However, there are many lesser-known cases of unidentified people that deserve just as much attention. These cases have just as much potential to be well known and interesting to the general public if they were only to receive some extra attention.

Today, we’re discovering the story behind a lesser-known cold case. Pulled from the waters of the Mississippi River in 1976, the identity of the Lilydale woman has eluded investigators for decades. Now, with new DNA technology, her full story could be revealed any day now.
