Hi folks,

How are you? Hope you’re well and enjoying the sunshine wherever you are. I am embracing the late spring with so much vigour. And thinking about the lovely Autumns you are experiencing if you live in the southern hemisphere. Never fear, I never forget you folks on the other side of the world… I’m originally from Australia after all.

There are two stories for you this week, by me! Ranging from the political to fashion, there should be something to challenge and wet your appetite for disability news this week.

This week, here in Britain, we faced a political conspiracy which involved the Prime Minister and his chief aide. In the slinging match that resulted from the chief aide making an unauthorised visit during lockdown it was suggested that his son was autistic. Now whether this is true or not is not the issue, it is the fact that, again, disability is being used by those in power to elicit a pity response. Which, quite frankly, is an insult to the disability community. I was not happy.

The Power of Pity: the offensiveness of using disability to gain sympathy.

My second story is about three fashion savvy ladies that are beyond cool. Check out the article to find out why you need to follow them and be inspired.

My dream for Conscious Being is be able to pay all of our writers a fair industry fee for their contributions. I am not in a position yet to do this, as I am a single woman who is self employed and having to work for my own income as well. This is why I have a started a Patreon page for Conscious Being and am reaching out to you wonderful followers.

Can you help me make this dream come true?

Helping can include supporting us through Patreon, sharing the Patreon page on your social media and asking friends to support, by becoming a contributor to the publication through your writing, sharing the publication across your socials, etc. Your support, by following the publication, already means a lot. If you can support Conscious Being in any of these other ways I will be eternally grateful.
