When Corkscrew went to Hollywood! USASBE 2018…Lights, Camera, Entrepreneurship!
3 weeks ago today Team Corkscrew set off on an adventure to The States. The purpose of our trip was to attend the USASBE Conference in Los Angeles (United States Association for Small Business and Entrepreneurship). This was our first time attending the event and we were super excited to see what we would learn and who we would meet!
Over the course of 4 days, we were able to dive into an incredibly passionate community, dedicated to developing and delivering the best Entrepreneurial Education (EE) to their students as well as pushing the boundaries of EE research. It was refreshing to meet people who instinctively appreciate the life-long and transferable value of developing creativity, problem-solving, emotional intelligence and leadership skills in students.
We were also really excited to have had two proposal accepted and so were billed to present both our Idea Generation game ‘Eureka!’ and a Program Expose on our Innovation Experienceships.
We had a great attendance at both sessions and in addition to introducing the concept of Corkscrew Thinking, it was great to be able to spark conversations around the structure and outcomes of our Experienceships. If you missed either of our sessions and would like a copy of the slides, just send an email to briony@corkscrew.io and I will send them over!
With this year’s theme of ‘Lights, Camera, Entrepreneurship’, there was certainly no lack of glitz and glam! The final night saw us attend a Gala at the CSUN Campus hosted by the David Nazarian College of Business and Economics where we bumped into a few famous faces that you might just recognise…
Thank you to the USASBE for organising and executing such an excellent conference. We couldn’t have been made to feel more welcome! It was great to officially connect with the USASBE members network, to share teaching techniques and to talk with people who share our believe and passion in the growing importance of Entrepreneurial Education not just for business students but for preparing students from across all disciplines for the future workplace.
Hope everyone had a safe trip home. Roll on USASBE2019! See you in Florida!
