When you enter a mnemonic phrase into Cosmostation wallet( iOS / Android / Web ) for Cosmos(ATOM), you automatically gain access to multiple wallets from this single seed phrase.
A mnemonic phrase is derived from an entropy. It lets you gain access to a master key that can unlock an infinite number of sub-wallets.
Think of your mnemonic phrase as a master key to a hotel that has an infinite number of rooms! All you need is your mnemonic phrase, and you can have access to all of the units in this hotel.
HD Wallets
Gain access to an infinite number of wallets with a single mnemonic phrase.
Now that you have this master key that allows you to unlock any unit in this hotel, you might wonder, “what do I do with this master key?”
You can do A LOT of things with this master key.
Let’s look at the derivation paths for BTC, ETC, and Cosmos (ATOM).
Think of derivation paths as unit numbers to individual rooms you wish to use in this hotel. Each cryptocurrency has its own unit number, and in each unit, there are is also an infinite number of rooms!
