Recently I have been quiet hooked onto YouTube due to the sheer good content that’s available out there. I mean it has become the Google of everything videos. In last 3 days I have subscribed to over 11 channels — and the topics are quiet broad like Ayurveda, Herbology, Product Management, Investment to Selfie and Productivity Influencers.

And don’t judge me — the creators and artists are getting better everyday (and so is my algorithm). Often, it makes me wonder — how creators are often at the mercy of algorithms. But that’s another topic. Nonetheless this creation game has really got to me.

I have taken an interest and a curious interest towards YouTube. If I get into a space where I can invest 1–2 hours everyday beyond my job to do something creative (like crafting herbology mix, paint, write on Medium) and I have built a process where letting creative expression becomes a part of me — I would start an YouTube Channel.

Although, this post is not about me — but about me believe that there has been a shift in the societal landscape where everyone has the platform to express their creativity (and gradually have an audience to it). We are no longer chained to mechanism where we are the only consumers, but we are also the creators.

Imagine — what you cannot do today. I mean nothing. You can do anything — to whatever you want to bring your focus and attention to.

Starting a Podcast, a YouTube Channel, Medium Publication, Coach on Skillshare or Udemy, start a Jewellery Business on Instagram. Atleast you could experiment to be a Creator. Success might come to few but the threshold to go-to-market is reducing. Although everyone would vouch that this is increasing the competition but I believe there is a market and audience to every niche. Look at Kelly Stamps, Casey Neistat (he is the reason for this everyday-writing-challenge of mine) Sorelle Amore, Ali Ibdaal or Hitomi. For a short while Sorelle actually monetised her practice of taking picture-perfect-selfies to Million Dolar Business - Yes, Million Dollar!

Due to Covid accelerating us to take to online world, Tech driving User-Led Content Innovation, Micro-flattery and Digital Celebrities — the digital air will be bubbling with creator domination. It’s a good domination- as it is not one voice leading what needs to be heard but dotted with micro-voices delivering what people wants to hear. It a more democratised production and consumption. Atleast for that — I am happy. :-)
