As a Medium creator, your About page is a place to introduce yourself and to contextualize your writing for your readers — especially new ones who are looking for reasons to click “follow.” It’s always allowed for more information than the short bio that appears under your profile image throughout the site. Now you can go even more in depth on this page.

It’s easy to personalize your page with images, text styling, and more, in order to paint a more vivid portrait of yourself than can fit in a tiny three-line bio. Your customized About page can also let your readers know what to expect in terms of your voice and writing style.

Here are some examples of how creators have customized their About pages (and you can, too):

Add more information to give readers context

Simone Keelah Brathwaite, as featured in the above gif, was one of the first creators to add to her About page, filling it out with more text and helpful links.

Tell your readers what to expect

Then there’s Medium veteran Darius Foroux, who has customized his About page with an original illustration, plus a detailed rundown of what readers can expect him to publish and when. Learn about his Stoic Letter series (and more) here.

Include images. Maybe even puppies.

Brand-new Medium creator Paola Faben Oliveira has a fun About page: Check out how she introduces herself to new readers, complete with images (and a cute dog).

Organize your projects

The About page can also be a handy way to organize your different projects or brands on Medium, like how Australian Foodie on Running uses hers to direct readers to both her cake-baking content (yum) and her running blog. Bonus: Her page showcases her gorgeous food photography.

Experiment with bullet points or other formats

You don’t have to add tons of prose to make your About page pop. Life coach Rui Alves includes some easy-to-scan bullet points highlighting what readers might want to know about him and how they can connect.

How are you going to customize your page? Tell us in the responses to this post!
