Now let’s begin the show
Welcome to India @TomDOSNetwork @DOSJerry 😄😊
Tommaso@DOS (won’t DM you first):
Thanks guys, lovely to meet y’all :)
Jerry@DOS (won’t PM you first):
Hello everyone, I am Jerry from DOS Network
Kundan Suresh Kumar:
Hi, this is Kundan, lead software engineer at DOS.
Beetle:
Welcome!
Community is much excited to hear from you. Let’s begin with the introductory part. Please introduce yourselves and project to the community.
Briefly :)
Tommaso@DOS (won’t DM you first):
Sure, I’m Tommaso, aka Tom, and I’m the Director of business development
DOS is a layer 2 decentralized oracle network service with many successful DeFi use cases.
Jerry@DOS (won’t PM you first):
I am Jerry Liu, the Director of Product
Beetle:
And we already know about Kudan.
Thanks for introducing
Now we’ll move towards the Admin Round. I’ll ask you a few question.
Are you ready?
Jerry@DOS (won’t PM you first):
Sure
Kundan Suresh Kumar:
Yes Beetle
Beetle:
Sure!
Here’s the beginner. Simple and Straight.
1. What does DOS Network do?
Tommaso@DOS (won’t DM you first):
DOS Network is a decentralized oracle network that provides cost-effective, reliable, and fast data collection services for everyone on the blockchain
Kundan Suresh Kumar:
DOS Network is already on the Ethereum mainnet
If you need an oracle, we are the go-to guys
Beetle:
That’s Impressive!
Moving on to the second one.
2. What advantages does DOS Network have over major
competitors ?
And who are your competitors?
Kundan Suresh Kumar:
First of all, DOS Network is more decentralized than our competitors. In the blockchain era, decentralization is king.
Beetle:
Truely said
Tommaso@DOS (won’t DM you first):
DOS is much more cost-effective than our competitors’ services, making it an ideal candidate for major tech companies, small businesses, and individual developers building on the blockchain
DOS has many successful use cases in the DeFi space, particularly in the Asian market.
Beetle:
Completely agree with that. Usefulness should be in real world.
Tommaso@DOS (won’t DM you first):
Absolutely. Our mission is to be the cheapest, fastest, and most trustworthy oracle service, and I think we’re doing pretty well on these fronts :)
Beetle:
👍🔥🔥
Shall we move to the last question of this round?
3. What’s special about the DOS Network team?
Kundan Suresh Kumar:
The DOS team has some of the smartest people in DeFi.
Jerry@DOS (won’t PM you first):
That’s a great question
DOS Network were founded by Chinese who are in silicon valley
We have rich experiences in giant tech companies like Google, Facebook, Oracle, and so on
Tommaso@DOS (won’t DM you first):
Our team is globally distributed as well, or decentralized if you will :)
Jerry@DOS (won’t PM you first):
Right now, our team is getting more and more international
Our lead software developer, Kundan, is a great example
Kundan Suresh Kumar:
As an Indian living in the US, I love the diversity of our team and I feel welcome.
Beetle:
Amazing! Team is always the foundation of the project. I’m impressed.
Haha!
Tommaso@DOS (won’t DM you first):
Our team also actively engaged with our community and gathers valuable constructive criticism and feedback from everyone
*engages
Beetle:
Taking feedback is critical. I wish you great luck ahead.
Tommaso@DOS (won’t DM you first):
Thank you Beetle
Beetle:
All Right, this brings an end to the admin round. Thank you for answering and explanation.
We’ll now move to the twitter round. Please Welcome @Rektpleb for hosting this Round.
√groot:
Thankyou Beetle for being our host tonight.
Its a pleasure to have you guys in the community.
Lets start the twitter round with the first question.
What role do you think DOS Network plays in increasing the adaptability of the blockchain on the global stage? How DOS Network solves Interoperability problem ? with Which blockchains, DOS Network is interoperatable?
https://twitter.com/pandalucu66/status/1290733014037585922?s=19
Tommaso@DOS (won’t DM you first):
Thank you Lee for the question.
Jerry@DOS (won’t PM you first):
I will start first, Tom and Kundan could talk as well
For the first part of the questions, I think oracle service is an important part of blockchain ecosystem
Without oracle, blockchain, or Dapp built on blockchain, is like an “island”, which means it could not intereact with the world outside blockchain
And we are the “bridge” to solve this problem
oracle service is very important for any type of applications or protocols
Tommaso@DOS (won’t DM you first):
One of the major bottlenecks of distributed open financial protocols is the collection of trustworthy off-chain data, and DOS Network is instrumental in solving that challenge for blockchain practitioners.
Jerry@DOS (won’t PM you first):
Cool
For the second part, how DOS Network solves Interoperability problem. First, DOS is a layer2 protocol
And it has two parts, on-chain(smart contract) and off-chain(p2p network)
Most of our operations(getting data, integration) are done in the off-chain part
So we could “plug” to any blockchain through smart contract
For now, we have launched the mainnet in Ethereum network
This means we could easily work on any EVM compatible blockchains
Kundan Suresh Kumar:
(this EVM compatibility is huge)
Jerry@DOS (won’t PM you first):
Like Binance Smart Chain, Tron, Thunder and so on
Beetle:
Yeah!
Jerry@DOS (won’t PM you first):
In the mean time, for the non-EVM compatible blockchain
For example, cosmos and polkadot
We are exploring our oracle solution by constructing a dapp/oracle chain
We have participated in the GOZ(Game of Zones) contest held by Cosmos
You could find us(our name is cdos) in their website
Beetle:
Awesomely Explained! 👌 Really Cool stuff.
Jerry@DOS (won’t PM you first):
Cool
√groot:
Awesome explanation !
Now coming to the second question which out twitter community is pretty much exicted
• Who is the target of DOS Network? Only for large companies? Or small entrepreneurs like me can also take advantage of this technology?
https://twitter.com/Ale_Urich/status/1290779069336948736?s=19
Tommaso@DOS (won’t DM you first):
Thank you for the question, Ale_urich. I will take this one.
The target audience of DOS Network is everyone. Every blockchain developer, user, and adopter can benefit from DOS Network.
Large companies and financial institutions can derive immense benefits from DOS Network because it offers a fast and cheap oracle service for them to collect astronomical amounts of price data at an attractive price point at scale.
But DOS Network is just as useful for medium and small business owners, as well as entrepreneurs and student developers, as our development platform is extremely easy to onboard and master, and the documentation is thorough and comprehensive. We offer great integration support as well.
We are truly the people’s oracle service.
If you look at our existing strategic and business partners, you will see that it is an extremely diverse list of ambitious organizations and companies.
We invite you to learn more by checking out our partners at https://dos.network
√groot:
There’s a saying more the people work together more they achieve the target faster !
Beetle:
We’ll surely check out.
Tommaso@DOS (won’t DM you first):
Indeed!
√groot:
Now , there wo go for the third question from twitter
DOS network offers decentralized data feed oracle and decentralized verifiable computation oracle, as user could I use these 2 features sinultaneously? What approach allows DOS network to offer these features when most oracles pnly do one?
https://twitter.com/Rosanela08/status/1290853404525330432?s=19
Tommaso@DOS (won’t DM you first):
Thanks rosanela for the great question!
Jerry@DOS (won’t PM you first):
Cool, first of all, I would say that we are one of the first projects to address the “computation oracle” problem
Most of the oracle services are data feed oracle
Kundan Suresh Kumar:
computation oracle is the future of oracles. We are doing a lot of research on this, with CMU.
Jerry@DOS (won’t PM you first):
We adressed this issue in 2018 and we expected that both of these two types of oracle works will have huge demands
For two years, we found that most of the demands are data feeding oracle service
That’s why our mainnet is also mainly about data feed oracle
Tommaso@DOS (won’t DM you first):
From a strategy and business perspective, it makes sense for us to prioritize data feed oracle first
Jerry@DOS (won’t PM you first):
For the computation oracle part, I couls say that users could request two types of work at the same time
Kundan Suresh Kumar:
In our design, different nodes will handle these two types of problems.
This is how it is done simultaneously.
Jerry@DOS (won’t PM you first):
Yes, as Kundan said, that’s why we could handle both of the requests
Beetle:
Great!
Jerry@DOS (won’t PM you first):
For the computation oracle, we see that there are some other projects exploring in this area
We’re working with some of them to see how we will solve this problem together
Kundan Suresh Kumar:
I’m the tech lead on this front
It is an area we are working on
Beetle:
Partnership are really important to last long in Crypto Space
Right! Here’s the second last question.
How will the DOS Network ensure the accuracy of the data obtained at the collection and methodological level?
https://twitter.com/EgorCypto/status/1290922277937319936?s=19
Kundan Suresh Kumar:
That is a great technical question
Beetle:
Members took a good read about it 😅
Kundan Suresh Kumar:
How DOS ensures data accuracy is an off-chain consensus protocol
The protocol uses something called VRF
Verifiable Random Function
and another tech called threshold signature scheme
Basically DOS Network doesn’t do leader election, which is common in cloud infrastructure
We do a random group selection instead of election
This selection is for all registered groups for each protocol run
This is the summary of VRF
Beetle:
👍👍 Interesting.
Kundan Suresh Kumar:
Threshold signature scheme helps the selected group reach consensus off-chain
as long as the threshold is satisfied
This is an innovative algorithm we developed in house
Beetle:
Wow
Are you ready for the finisher? Before the live community round?
Kundan Suresh Kumar:
Yes
Beetle:
Last one related to VRF you just explained.
1. How does @DOSNetwork use VRF?
2. What is the maximum number of random nodes selected and what is the threshold?
3. What are the benefits for the token holder to have Token @DOSNetwork in the real world and
decentralized economy? https://t.co/0LK2dBrgaM
https://twitter.com/cryptopenna2/status/1290745666080129025?s=19
Kundan Suresh Kumar:
1. as discussed earlier VRF Is for data accuracy and group selection
Beetle:
Yep.
Kundan Suresh Kumar:
2. for the maximum number of random nodes selected, the threshold
has something to with group registration and regrouping
and the group consensus via threshold signature
(this is in our whitepaper BTW)
it’s called (t, n) threshold signature
the t here is the maximum number of random nodes selected
the idea is that < t number of members cannot generate a valid group signature
the threshold signature scheme is very mathematical
this is the basic principle
Jerry@DOS (won’t PM you first):
Cool, so I could talk about the benefits for the token holder
To increase the robust of the network we will incentivize holders who run their nodes or delegate to nodes
It’s similiar to the “POS” as many blockchains do
https://medium.com/dos-network/dos-network-mainnet-staking-function-officially-launched-4bf59ec1c532
Kundan Suresh Kumar:
proof of stake is our choice
Jerry@DOS (won’t PM you first):
Here is the guide for delegating(stake) dos token to current node
We’ll publish more details about running nodes, though it needs some technical knowledge
Kundan Suresh Kumar:
kindly check our medium for more
Beetle:
Sure!
What are the staking requirements though?
Jerry@DOS (won’t PM you first):
For delegating, min is 100 dos
Kundan Suresh Kumar:
800,000 for setting up a node
800k dos
Beetle:
All Right.
Thank you for answering promptly. We’ll now move to live session.
Shall we?
Kundan Suresh Kumar:
let’s do it
Beetle:
Brace for the blast of Questions 😉
Unmuting the chat in a moment. Please do remember the rules.
(Group was unmuted for our community members to submit questions. More than 400 questions were submitted. Wow!)
Beetle:
Muted!
Great Response from Community.
Over 400 questions.
Over to you all DOS team
√groot:
This would be a tough call to select only 5 questions @DOSJerry
Dalmasca Blockchain:
How do you see India communities as your marketing target?
Tommaso@DOS (won’t DM you first):
I will answer this question
Jerry@DOS (won’t PM you first):
Yes, sure, I think all three of us will choose some questions
Tommaso@DOS (won’t DM you first):
The Subcontinent has huge potential in our opinion. The passion for crypto tech and crypto markets in India are very impressive, and we’d like to bring our oracle service there.
We would love to see our oracle service being used for social good and India is a great place to start as well. Our team is also in a great position to break into the India market.
In short, we are dedicated to building an oracle ecosystem in India
Kundan Suresh Kumar:
doing an AMA to India is a good starter IMHO
thanks all kindly for coming
Dalmasca Blockchain:
security is major element in crypto , so could you share with us how best your platform security system works againts hacking from outside and inside?
Jerry@DOS (won’t PM you first):
I’ll answer this question
√groot:
Thanks to you for giving us this warm opportunity
Jerry@DOS (won’t PM you first):
In our on-chain part there is a registration system(contract), which deals with when new node joins the network
If you remember there is a min 800k requirement to run a node
And we treat that as the “security deposit”
This makes the system resistant to sybil attacks and enhances network security.
Any instance with offtime will be penalized by forfeiting part of its deposit.
Gotsuka:
The Whitepaper explain that DOS NETWORK have 2 layers, On-chain and Off-chain, so i am wordering that why the CHAIN ADAPTOR MODULE is in the Off-chain? Considering that this is a continuously used?
Considering that you use a Staking model to select users roles, How you protect yourself againts Sybil attacks?
Jerry@DOS (won’t PM you first):
This is also a great question
The second part about the sybil attacks I have explained
For the chain adaptor module
As I mentioned before
Our on-chain part(smart contracts) is like the orchestration part
All the actual data feed oracle operations are in the off-chain part
chain adaptor means that receiving the commands from on-chain
https://github.com/DOSNetwork/core
This is our off-chain part
https://github.com/DOSNetwork/eth-contracts
This is our on-chain(Ethereum) part
VyachCrypto:
Every project has its own position in the market, how does DOS Network plan to stay competitive compared to other projects?
Tommaso@DOS (won’t DM you first):
We’ve got a compact and hard-working team of talented blockchain developers, crypto visionaries, and business development professionals. For example, as Kundan said earlier, he’s currently leading research efforts with others to innovate in the computation oracle space, which is a space with boundless opportunities (think the new cloud computing). We are reaching out to organizations and we have many strategic and technical partnerships that are being finalized.
Kundan Suresh Kumar:
yes, a breakthrough in computation oracle is a Gamechanger
i’m expanding r&d and recruiting
Nick:
By what criteria does DOS Network choose data to support with?
Jerry@DOS (won’t PM you first):
This is a good question
Oracle is like a “bridge”, there are data requestors and data providers at the same time
Data requestors, are commonly the protocols/application that requires data
MakerDao wants to know what’s the price of ETH in the market now, for example
At the same time, data providers, are commonly data from CMC, Coingecko, Binance, Coinbase, for example
Jhonathan:
DOS Network has recently partnered with METER! How does Meter influence the DOS NETWORK ecosystem and what benefits do its users obtain with this association? Are there plans to develop more projects together? Thank you!
Kundan Suresh Kumar:
Meter is a great innovative Project and Im very happy we reached partnership with them. this partnership is both Strategic and Technical, we will integrate together and discuss new innovations together
Jerry@DOS (won’t PM you first):
DOS Network is a permissionless protocol which means that any data requestors can ask for any data(through HTTP request)
I can give you an example from our docs, https://dosnetwork.github.io/docs/#/contents/blockchains/ethereum
You could replace the the eth price of coinbase with many other data sources as well
Kundan Suresh Kumar:
Meter is a great innovative Project and Im very happy we reached partnership with them. this partnership is both Strategic and Technical, we will integrate together and discuss new innovations together
meter benefits from data oracle because price data fetching is cheaper now for them. DOS get a strong business partner with strong tech and can help us greatly
Tommaso@DOS (won’t DM you first):
To add to this, we are expanding our outreach effort and talking to more project partners. Our vision is to become the go-to oracle service for everyone, not just in DeFi.
Users will benefit from community collaborations because we firmly believe that open-source development is the way to go
Kundan Suresh Kumar:
of course
√groot:
