ZK-Rollups (ZKRs) are a type of Layer 2 scaling solution for blockchain networks. They use zero-knowledge proof technology to allow users to batch multiple transactions into a single transaction and reduce the amount of data that needs to be stored on the blockchain, allowing for faster and cheaper transactions. ZK-Rollups also provide more privacy and security for users since the data is encrypted and stored off-chain.
Some examples of ZKRs that are in production today:
- Loopring: Loopring is a decentralized exchange protocol that uses ZK-Rollups to process transactions off-chain while maintaining the security of the underlying blockchain.
- Celer Network: Celer Network is a layer 2 scaling solution that also utilizes ZK-Rollups to reduce transaction fees and improve scalability.
- Starkware: Starkware is a blockchain infrastructure provider that uses ZK-Rollups to enable trustless scaling for various DeFi applications.
- Matter Labs: Matter Labs provides a platform for developers to build applications on top of ZK-Rollups.
- mStable: mStable is a protocol for stablecoins and other assets that uses ZK-Rollups for fast, secure and low-cost transactions.
