Isolation is the experience of being separated from others. According to Good Therapy, isolated person can experience loneliness and low-self esteem, which can negatively affect an individual’s mental health.

During the last months, people are experiencing Social Isolation all over the world, due to the Coronavirus. Social Isolation is the absence of the social relationships. New state restrictions, including self-isolation, quarantine, closure of the public places put people’s mental health on a line, but without those regulations, we cannot fight back to the virus.

Changing lifestyle is not that easy, especially when you are an active person. According to the American Psychological Association, many people are experiencing the loneliness and depression during the self-isolation and quarantine.

Hawkley noted that loneliness can wreak havoc on an individual’s physical, mental and cognitive health.

Hawkley points to evidence linking perceived social isolation with adverse health consequences including depression, poor sleep quality, impaired executive function, accelerated cognitive decline at this stage of life.

But how can we fight back to the depression and loneliness and how can we take care of ourselves?

Here are 5-minutes activities, which can help to control your emoitions:

  1. Every day write down 3 nice things about yourself — it will raise your self-esteem and you will be more motivated to start your day.
  2. Drink some water — it will boost your immune system and also, will help you to refresh your thoughts.
  3. Start meditation — Do a short mindfulness breathing exercise
  4. Open your window and breathe deeply

5. Start writing your daily diary — impress your emotions

6. Read books, articles, blogs

7. Listen to the song which makes you happy

8. Stand up, walk around and stretch

9. DANCE IT OUT

10. Love Yourself !
