🧩TIA

Is there a way to see the cumulative TIA spent on Celestia transaction fees/gas so far ❔

How can i get the current gas price for celestia chain❔

https://celenium.io/gas

How token inflation works ❔

The annual provisions for inflation are calculated based on the total supply of TIA at the beginning of each year. To calculate how many TIA to issue per block, Celestia uses the block timestamp rather than the block height since the time between blocks can vary and cause actual issuance to be higher than the target.

What is Celestia’s supply ❔

Celestia had a total supply of 1,000,000,000,000 TIA in genesis. You can check the current supply directly in their API via:

Information about tokenomics

How the unlocking of tokens will produce❔

Celestia’s billion TIA supply in genesis will be subject to several different unlocking schedules. All tokens, locked or unlocked, can be left in staking, but staking rewards are unlocked upon receipt and will be added to the circulating supply. More info here:

What is the inflation rate ❔

The initial inflation rate is set at 8% per year and will decrease by 10% each year until it eventually stabilises at an annual inflation rate of 1.5%.

What are the DEXs that I can trade TIA❔

Will there be a token burning process ❔

There are plans to implement a fee-burning mechanism similar to EIP-1559 on Ethereum, so that the fees burned will offset the issuance of new tokens as Celestia gains traction. There is no planned date for this yet.

During that 21 days of unstaking period, do i still receive rewards?

No, you will not get any rewards during the unbonding period

How to redelegate

You can visit here, after choose the validator you have staked with, then click on ‘redelegate’ to tranfer to a different validator.

🧩How Celestia works

Will Celestia connect other chains (like for example Polkadot or ATOM does)❔

And would in that case TIA be used for paying gas fees for interchain transactions?

Celestia is designed to be a data availability layer for rollups, and it doesn’t impose execution logic, so anyone can create their own execution environment, like for example EVM, Cosmos, etc. Celestia’s design does allow for secure cross-chain interoperability, as its light clients do not make an honest majority assumption.

As for the use of TIA, it is the native asset of Celestia and is used to pay for data availability. Developers and rollups submit PayForBlobs transactions on the network for a fee, denominated in TIA. If a rollup or application built on Celestia were to interact with another chain, the specifics of how gas fees would be handled would likely depend on the design of that particular application or rollup. How does a settlement layer that uses celestia for DA work ❔

A settlement layer is a modular blockchain whose primary role is to provide proof verification and dispute resolution for rollups. It may also provide other features for rollups, such as a liquidity source or bridging hub. The settlement layer independently builds its own batches, including transactions submitted by the rollup, and publishes them.

However, the settlement layer requires a data availability (DA) layer like Celestia to ensure that the data it processes is always available for users to download and verify. Celestia, as a DA layer, orders and publishes transactions but does not execute them. This decoupling of the consensus and execution layers allows for greater flexibility and scalability.

Are there any Dapps running on celestia network yet ❔

Is smart contract on Celetia chain ❔

Celestia is designed to be a minimal blockchain that allows other chains (rollups) to use it for data availability. In that sense, it is not meant to provide execution like smart contracts, which are handled by the execution layers instead.

Celestia leverages the Cosmos SDK for the state logic (everything around the token, like staking, delegations etc), so for transactions that occur directly on the Celestia network, such as PayForBlob transactions, the execution is relatively simple and is handled directly by the Celestia network itself. As for more complex transactions, Celestia is not designed to handle them directly. Instead, it relies on the rollups that use it for data availability to handle their own execution.

What is the purpose of the current Celestia testnets?

Mocha Testnet is designed to help validators and other node operators test out their infrastructure. Developers are also encouraged to deploy their sovereign rollups on Mocha.

On the other hand, Arabica Devnet is focused exclusively on providing developers with enhanced performance and the latest upgrades for testing their rollups and applications. It does not focus on validator or consensus-level testing.

Celestia providing consensus does mean that rollups using celestia doesnt have to build a sequencer at all?

Because celestia is who specifies the orders of the transactions in the rollup?

All rollups, including sovereign rollups, would typically need their own sequencer but itmay vary depending on the design and implementation of each individual rollup. This is because while Celestia provides the data availability layer and consensus, the rollups themselves are responsible for ordering transactions within the rollup before they are batched and submitted to Celestia.

Celestia’s primary function is to order the data posted by all rollups and ensure its availability.

What is Celestia’s TPS?

Celestia does not have a stated TPS because it increases the block size to allow for more light nodes in the network. A more objective measure of the data throughput Celestia can provide would be kb/s or mb/s. The initial block size was set at 2 MB, and can be increased further through governance.
