Introduction

Celestia is currently running the Mocha incentivised testnet with the main objective of testing and improving its features, as well as preparing node operators for the mainnet launch. The faucet has been opened to everyone for users to test transactions and delegate validators through the Leap Wallet.

If you are a Celestia user or just want to test how to use Leap Wallet, manage funds and learn how to staking on the network, follow these steps:

Using Leap Wallet on Celestia’s Mocha network

If you have your Leap Wallet, the first thing you need to do is to add the Celestia network, in this case Mocha.

In case you don’t have Leap Wallet installed you can use our step-by-step guide here:

How to add Celestia’s Mocha Network to Leap Wallet

✔️ Visit the official Celestia website for more information:

https://docs.celestia.org/developers/leap/

✔️ Access the Leap Wallet extension in your browser and go to the button at the top.

✔️ Choose the Mocha Testnet:

NOTE: If the Mocha network does not appear, you can add it manually. To do this, move to the bottom of the second screen and click on the Add new chain button to add the Mocha network:

Add the parameters:

· Chain Id: mocha-4

· Chain Name: Mocha Testnet

· New RPC URL: https://rpc-mocha.pops.one

· New REST URL: https://api-mocha.pops.one

· Address Prefix: celestia

· Native Denom: utia

· Coin Type: 118

· Decimals: 6

· Block explorer URL (optional): https://testnet.mintscan.io/celestia-testnet

Once these steps have been completed, the Celestia Mocha network will appear with the balance in TIA tokens:

How to request testnet tokens on the Celestia faucet

In order to start testing with the Leap Wallet you need some tokens, so go to the Celestia network faucet.

✔️ Click on the button at the top to copy the address:

The address copied message will appear:

✔️ Access Celestia’s Discord:

✔️ In the BLOCKSPACE RACE category, go to the #|faucet channel and enter your wallet address preceded by the $request command:

Remember that tokens have no value, they are only used for testing and checking the wallet and network functionalities.

✔️ To check that the operation has been carried out correctly, go back to your wallet and check your balance:

✔️Otra way to check the transaction is through a block explorer, this type of application shows us all the operations carried out on the blockchain. As you can see in the faucet, each time a transaction is carried out it returns a hash that identifies it:

$tx_info 4CBF4CD26926C59FF4B2D677C778AB83622CA5B917016B0D6BEAA95F99972881

If you access a browser, for example:

You will be able to track the hash of the transaction:

These transactions are stored on the blockchain and can be reviewed at any time.

(The one we have used in this example:)

How to delegate your tokens on the Celestia Mocha network

You can delegate directly from Leap Wallet by performing the following steps:

1) Click on the Stake button at the bottom:

2) On the next screen, click on the + Stake button:

3) Choose the validator to which you want to delegate your tokens:

4) Click on the Review button:

5) Confirm the operation by clicking on Stake TIA:

6) The transaction confirmation screen will appear:

Note: remember that a good practice to improve the decentralisation/security of the blockchain is to delegate to several validators, thus distributing voting power so that control of the network is well distributed and power is not concentrated in one or a few nodes.

You can copy the transaction to view it in a block explorer:

Open a block explorer and paste the address of the transaction to see more details:

If you prefer, you can go directly to mintscan via Explorer button:

In your Leap Wallet you can see the delegated balance, in the Stake section of the wallet:
