Enabling robot arms to universally see, understand and manipulate objects has been an elusive dream for roboticists for over three decades now. This has been touted as the “holy grail” of robotics, a milestone that would be a watershed moment in the history of robots. Our success with building versatile robots has been less than desirable in large parts due to our gross underestimation of the complexities and marvels of human vision and cognition which make us the greatest manipulative beings nature has evolved. At CynLr, we are in quest to unravel the fundamental complexities of vision for manipulation, and hopefully solve for this dream.
