Bret was kind enough to let me borrow a key to his beautiful shoreline home and told me to just leave the key under the mat. Some of the other mods must have heard because they’ve come in and trashed the place! Sorry, Bret!!! (Edits and additions made by mods will be noted in ̶s̶t̶r̶i̶k̶e̶t̶h̶r̶o̶u̶g̶h̶s̶ and italics for this article.)

Bret’s Shoreline

“Where he goes to relax and put teammates in danger.”

Series: 3

Artist: roz_paints

This gold rarity, holo version of Bret’s Shoreline shows a gas station in the distance, with a close up view of water and a beach. This scene is taken from the game Escape From Tarkov’s Shoreline map.

What’s in the Picture?

A beautiful depiction of Bret’s Shoreline, a relaxing shore upon which Bret’s beautiful ̶h̶o̶m̶e̶ castle sits. The Shoreline is a map in Escape from Tarkov, a ̶f̶i̶r̶s̶t̶ ̶p̶e̶r̶s̶o̶n̶ ̶s̶h̶o̶o̶t̶e̶r̶ ̶b̶a̶t̶t̶l̶e ̶ snoozecore royale game.

What Does the Quote Mean?

Dan went through a pretty heavy Tarkov phase on the stream for a while. Dan’s moderator Bretanadilewski also got into the game at the same time...spending raids TKing his squadmates with grenades. Often when Dan would see Bret was online and playing the game, Bret would be found in the Shoreline map. ̶O̶c̶c̶a̶s̶i̶o̶n̶a̶l̶l̶y̶ Every match Dan would get outnumbered by an enemy squad and complain about his lack numbers claiming that ‘Bret [was] sitting on Shoreline sipping [insert beverage of the moment]’. Eventually this statement happened so frequently that the map’s Danglish name became “Bret’s Shoreline.”

The full art version of Bret’s Shoreline shows Bret lounging on a beach sipping a drink while wearing a “Pit Boss” t-shirt.

What’s Hiding in the Full Art?

While the standard edition of the cards focus on Bret’s swanky cliffside digs, the Full Art reveals a depiction of Bret on the shoreline with a ̶d̶r̶i̶n̶k ̶ glass of team red tears in his hand. You know that it’s Bret as the character is depicted with the “Green Sword” mod icon and it is wearing a “Pit-stained Boss” t-shirt, a reference to one of Bret’s roles as mod on the show.

Hey, Wait! Why does the Gold Card Have Stuff on the Picture?

Glad you noticed that! You realize that you’re talking to yourself, right? That’s an example of Dan getting his fingerprints all over a Holographic card. The picture fails to truly capture how cool the holographic variant is, so please click this link to see the card properly. If you move your mouse over the card, the image rotates and shines up real well. They do look really cool, good work Devs. We’ll put googly eyes on all of Bret’s wall hangings for you.

How Often are Cards Turned Holographic?

A card has a 1% chance of having the holographic layer applied to it upon the creation of the card. A total of 568 of the Bret’s Shoreline card exist out of over 37,000 S3 cards total (so far). Only ten of those 568 are Gold variants. The chance of any single S3 card being both a Gold variant and a Holographic layer are approximately .0175% or 7/40,000. In other words pretty much 50/50, either it’s holo or it’s not. That’s a pretty rare card, sushibarsam-… rbard99! Congratulations! (For S3 cards there’s a 90.5% chance that a card art wouldn’t have had any Gold holos at all, so it was very lucky to have had one.)
