Dare to Challenge I have to admire that was actually a big challenge. From the beginning of the semester as a team we had to invent our own startup and design from the beginning a whole organization based on a Sustainable Development Goal. We got inspired from the 12th goal, Responsible Consumption and Production and we decided to focus on millennials. Motivating millennials taking into consideration the needs of the environment and find a way to raise awareness about the waste in cities and the materials that go wasted, needed much dedication and inventiveness. Currently there are so many organizations who try raiding awareness to this subject but millennials is the sharp end. And that’s how we concluded with the subject. For further information about our initial brainstorming ideas you can go to our related publication.

The whole procedure sound challenging enough to me. A startup idea is difficult to succeed and needs total commitment. In order to realize if our idea will work we poured out to streets! We created a questionnaire about The ProjectY and asked from young people to answer it and receive their feedback. This action was difficult enough because many people do not have the time and appetite to fill it so we at the end of the day I felt really exhausted. At least the whole procedure was really helpful to continue.

One of the most enjoying parts of the lab was the one of Medium. We had to post an article on Medium in our every step. This task was really fascinating to me because I love writing and sharing my thoughts with the public. In addition the feeling that there is someone out there who follows your steps, can see your progress anytime and give you feedback is very encouraging.

I also found very interesting the creative part of TheProjectY. The procedure of creating content for the project was really enlightening for me too. Finding out so many information about the materials we use every day and their correlation with energy we could use if we were recycling them is surprising. The infographic I created shows at length some of these facts and you should gain some time to check it out here.

Our supervisor Betty Tsakarestou was the one who lead us in every step and was giving us every time her feedback. She shared with us her objective point of view and that’s why we made many modifications on our project in order to reach the final result.

So as a team we had excellent collaboration between us and the appetite to work on this subject. We were sharing our inspirations and thoughts in every meeting and we tried a lot to find the way to approach millennials and make them pay attention. This part was the most challenging for me. We all know that social media and applications are the easy way to attract the younger ages, but the free apps that someone can find in app-stores are so many that the human mind filters them and get attracted only by the most interesting ones. So the application that we wanted to design would have to be special and interesting. We designed Clean Slate app where users can upload their photos and express themselves which is something I believe many people would like to be able to do. We live in a free world and everyone has the right to say what he wants but cannot do whatever he wants.
