Studying in the department of Communication, Media and Culture of Panteion University, in Athens I selected to attend the course; “Social Issues, Social Innovation and Corporate Responsibility”. In the beginning, the students had to be separated from each other and create teams. Our team named “BeyondRace” and our main goal is to deal with and illuminate the Black Lives Matter movement. In this specific assignment we had to present the overall development progress of our team throughout this semester, but also to share our internal concrete action plan.

At first, we chose to introduce ourselves for one more time, and explain which audience we are addressing and what our goals are.

Then, we thought that it would be a nice idea to organise an event -via zoom, due to the restrictions of the pandemic- in order to raise awareness for the issue of racism in our societies.

During this semester we did not miss the opportunity to mention the current situation regarding police violence against black people, and at the same time to suggest ways, through which people from Greece can take action and help effectively the BLM movement.

After this, it was time for us to gather and summarize our findings, when it comes to the obstacles that black people have to face in their everyday lives in 2021, but also to the stereotypes that still exist.

Reaching the end, we considered necessary to clarify our course of action and also to present our social media, through which people can get in touch with us and share their thoughts on this issue.
