This article will cover how to become a writer for Dark Whimsy Rising. Not following these guidelines within your article will be rejected, and you will not be added as a writer. This publication is for both readers and writers of fantasy romance + dark fantasy and our personal favorite, spice! Our intention is for you to feel cozy and cared for in this enchanting nook of the internet.
We are inclusive of new and experienced writers. So, if you’re interested in writing for us, we’ve provided you with some guidelines to keep in mind. We aim to look at your submitted articles within 48 hours. However, it can take a few days to publish.
Submission Guidelines
- 1. Articles will be accepted in a draft format only.
- 2. All submissions must be written in English, check for spelling and grammar errors, and be completely free of plagiarism and AI writing.
- 3. You may receive some feedback designed to help you; make sure you allow private notes.
- 4. Add “Dark Whimsy Rising” as one of your tags + Books & Reading. how to add tags tutorial is here.
- 5. Cite all sources if referring to a claim or quote.
- 6. Please disclose if you have imported your article from another website. The original source must be credited and written by you.
- 7. Please allow up to 48 hours for your article to be reviewed & published.

Formatting
Please do edit your work so that it shines! However, we will suggest simple edits to ensure your piece flows well in every way.
We’ve created a simple outline so that it all flows nicely together. Other than that you’re free to include what you wish.

- Image — cited under the image even if it’s from a free site or you’ve taken/created it yourself.
- Main body (text) of the article — Formatted using appropriate headers, sub-headers, and paragraphs of a suitable length.

What We Publish, for now;
Book summaries, recommendations, reflections, takeaways, discussions, personally written short stories, flash fiction, and poetry — as long as it is related to fantasy, romance, and of course a spice, your piece is welcome on Dark Whimsy Rising!
When writing/submitting personal summaries or reflections please have a clear takeaway for the reader. Write about how a book influenced you, how much you were inspired by it, and how you felt motivated to implement those lessons in your life. Write about your favourite books and urge readers to pick them up — list 10 (or 50) books of your preferred genre. Write about how a book left you in tears or taught you to be a better human being!
When writing/submitting your own story … just make us want to sink our teeth in!
