Flint Wallet has just been updated on iOS, Android, and Web Extension! These updates include multiple upgrades that improve the user experience and add features requested by the community!

Your feedback is invaluable when prioritizing the upgrades we have planned for Flint. So if there’s a feature you want to see in Flint sooner rather than later, then jump into our Discord or head to Twitter and let us know right now! Let’s dig into what’s been introduced for Flint in these newest updates.

ADA Handle Integration

Flint wallet now supports the $handle standard that replaces convoluted wallet addresses with short, human-readable — and rememberable — addresses. This means you can now use Flint, mobile or desktop, to send Cardano assets to any existing ADA Handle. Just type $ into the “Receiver’s address” field, and Flint will automatically recognize that you want to use a $handle:

Then enter the $handle you want to use, e.g., $handle, and Flint will check to see if it’s a valid Handle. If it’s invalid, a warning will pop up telling you so. If it is a valid $handle, you can continue sending your assets using Cardano’s most popular address-routing solution.

For those who don’t know, ADA Handle is an address-routing solution for Cardano that allows you to replace blockchain addresses like this:

with simple addresses, up to 15 characters long and preceded by a $, that look like this: $handle. Each $handle is a unique NFT associated with the UTxO that holds it. This NFT acts as a unique identifier for the wallet holding that UTxO, enabling users to use the associated $handle as an address for receiving funds. Solutions like ADA Handle’s $handle standard help to create an incredibly friendly UX and increase blockchain adoption. Learn more about ADA Handles and mint your own $handle right here!

NFT Gallery on iOS devices

After a period of absence, as the result of a series of moves by Apple on the NFT front, we have now successfully reintroduced the NFT Gallery feature to Flint wallet for iOS devices! Updating to at least version 1.23.0 will give you this functionality and allow you to view and browse all your beautiful NFTs in your mobile wallet by simply tapping the image icon at the bottom of your screen.

NFTs with the same policy ID are grouped together for better organization and a cleaner look. Clicking on a particular NFT opens that NFT on its own page, enlarging the image and allowing you to navigate to your chosen Cardano explorer to view the Policy and Asset IDs there.

Deeplinks Page Upgrade

We’ve upgraded the deeplinks page on the Flint Wallet webpage, which generates deeplinks for Flint mobile. Generating deeplinks is easier and much more user-friendly, and the page now features descriptions of the two types of deeplinks we offer. These two types of deeplinks are:

- “Open a dApp” — These can be used to open a specific page from a dApp, be that an NFT drop page or a liquidity farming tab, in Flint’s mobile dApp browser. Users can immediately interact with these pages or bookmark them later.

- “Payment Links” — These can be used to pre-populate the payment amount and recipient fields in Flint mobile’s “Send” screen. This means the user only needs to sign the transaction to complete the payment and doesn’t have to mess around entering amounts and addresses.

Head over to our deeplinks page to experiment with creating deeplinks for Flint mobile and discover how you can offer your users and friends a much-improved experience when interacting with Cardano!

Multi-Asset Transactions

This is a feature that many members of the community have asked us for and it is now live in Flint! Multi-asset transactions are transactions where you send multiple different assets — e.g., ADA, an NFT, some tokens, some other tokens, another NFT, etc — all to the same receiver, all in the same transaction!

When you’re in Flint wallet, be it on mobile or desktop, click the “SEND” button, and you will see the words “MULTIPLE ASSETS” in the top right-hand corner. Click this, and then Flint will take you to a page that lists all your wallet’s assets. Select the ones that you want to send and click “NEXT.” Now enter the receiving address and the quantity of each asset you want to send, enter your password on the next page, and you’ve sent multiple assets in one transaction! If you don’t select ADA as an asset to send, then Flint will automatically add the network minimum 1 ADA plus a transaction fee.

Flint Mobile Updates

Since we launched our fully open dApp browser for Flint mobile, we’ve received great feedback! Here we have an update to the dApp browser and another mobile-specific update.

URL Bar

You asked, and we delivered! Flint wallet’s mobile dApp browser now features a URL bar into which you can paste or type any web address you want! Previously you had to take an extra step and go through a search engine, but now you can access and easily bookmark any Cardano dApp in a more streamlined manner.

Export Your Logs via Email

Now you can export your wallet’s log file and public key from Flint mobile directly to your email. Go into the “Settings” section of Flint, tap “Help and support,” then tap the “here” link in the “Logs” section to export your wallet’s logs via email. You can choose to do this with or without your public key.

This feature is helpful for developers so they can simulate restoring a wallet to debug issues and edge cases. Users in crypto tax accounting software can also use public keys to make it easier to track transactions for tax reporting purposes. It is good to note that this does not expose your wallet’s private key.

Japanese Language Support

We’ve responded to requests from our Japanese community and added support for the Japanese language in Flint wallet for mobile and desktop! To change Flint’s language to Japanese, go to “Settings,” scroll down and select “Display,” then select “🇯🇵日本語” from the “Language” dropdown menu.

>Did you know you can also use the Japanese Yen as the display currency in Flint? In the same “Display” section as above, select “🇯🇵¥JPY” from the “Unit of Account” dropdown menu.

CIP-30 Integration

We have implemented the CIP-30 signing standard, the most up-to-date signing standard for Cardano wallets, into Flint wallet. This standard allows Cardano dApps to integrate more easily with wallets that have adopted the standard, which means that more and more dApps can easily add support for Flint wallet!
