In celebration of our upcoming official beta phase and the launch of our web-based marketplace, we will be selling exclusive Drone Chassis with limited edition skins.
Introducing Tactical Drones
Tactical Drones will be a crucial new aspect of DEFY, unlocking a whole new world of gameplay that involves crafting your own drone to retrieve loot and do more as we enter Operation Beta.
Operatives will be able to enhance their location-based gameplay with fully assembled drones, as well as partake in drone-exclusive gameplay features such as PvP battles, PvE experiences, and even drone time-trials! These features will be rolled out post-beta, and more information on them will follow in time to come.
Each tactical drone requires five parts in order to function:
- Drone Chassis (the frame that the drone is built on and defines its potential)
- Propulsion System
- Power System (battery pack)
- Processor (CPU)
- Communication System (network antenna)
In the future we plan on having additional (optional) slots such as cloaking devices, weapons, screens and other accessories that you can choose to insert onto your drone to enhance your gaming experience.
With the introduction of drones, the revolution is now entering a new phase.
Tactical Drones vs Retriever Drones
The tactical drones that you craft and assemble are not only customisable to suit various gameplay styles and upgradeable, it also offers a lot more capabilities than the basic retriever drones available in the in-app store.
Here are some of the advantages to building your own a tactical drone:
- Tactical drones can operate around the map up to 3x faster than the existing Retriever drones found within the in-game store.
- Tactical drones can be sent out further in distance at a lesser energy cost than Retriever drones
- Tactical drones have the ability to carry more items than Retriever drones
- Tactical drones will eventually be allowed upgrades, including the ability to equip weapons to take down Future System drones
Drone Chassis
Drone chassis are the foundation of tactical drones that Operatives can build, customise, program, and use to battle in-game, including the ability to pilot the drone using a simulator. The chassis will only be acquirable via nanoforging raw materials and a blueprint obtained in-game, with the exception of this limited edition launch where 1,000 drone chassis are made available for purchase using $DEFY via our new web-based marketplace.
The blueprint to craft a regular chassis will be released sometime in January, therefore buying a completed chassis not only saves you both time and effort on having to hunt materials and forge one when they are released in-game, you also get a one-month head start to be among the first Operatives to assemble your own drone!
Special Limited Edition Drone Chassis
This release marks the very first drone chassis launch. There will be different types of chassis made available in the future based on the various styles of gameplay we have planned.
In addition to having a head start to build your tactical drone, these limited series Drone Chassis will come with its own unique aesthetics from the ones crafted in-game. That means the chassis available in this sale cannot be created via the nanoforge.

- Can I buy more than one chassis during this sale?
Yes, there will be no restrictions to the number of chassis purchasable. - Is there any benefit to owning more than one drone chassis?
Having more drone chassis will enable you to craft more than one fully operational tactical drone which you can keep for personal use or trade to new players. - Will I be locked out of game content if I do not own a drone chassis?
There will be certain elements of gameplay you will not be able to partake in without a chassis, however, the existing gameplay will remain as it stands — especially for free-to-play users engaging with the current gameplay loop. Owning a chassis will enable you to get through the existing gameplay loop faster, including having the ability to defend yourself better from Hunter Drones and potential new enemies. - Can I swap out drone parts once applied to the chassis?
Similar to our mask decals, drone parts get burned when applied onto the chassis. You may add a new part onto the old one and replace it to avoid having to rebuild the entire drone, however you will not be able to dismantle the drone for the old parts. - Can I apply decals onto my chassis to further personalise them?
The existing decals are meant exclusively for personalising masks. We are currently working on a skinning system for drones, therefore it will not be ready for the upcoming launch. However, the upcoming launch will come with unique aesthetics and there may be future events which could include opportunities to attain other unique aesthetics for your drone chassis too. - Will I be able to buy/sell a whole drone and its parts on the web-based marketplace?
Yes. The web marketplace serves as a platform for Operatives to buy and sell the various in-game assets available. Do note that the marketplace transacts exclusively in $DEFY only at this time. - Do tactical drones require maintenance or repair over time when utilising it for in-game activities?
No. Tactical drones utilises energy in order to send them out to carry out tasks, therefore your energy will be the key resource used to power the drone to have it perform the different types of in-game activities.
