DEIPdev #2 — public testnet launch and protocol updates
August 29, 2018. DEIP Development Update, or DEIPdev in short, is a regular biweekly update by our dev team. As usual, we will introduce you to the main features we developed within the DEIP blockchain protocol. Today we will also focus on the launch of public testnet that is scheduled for September 6th.

Our team is developing a decentralized research platform DEIP that is designed for scientific workflows and is governed by the scientific community. In the core of the DEIP blockchain is our own consensus algorithm — Delegated Proof of Expertise Contribution (DPoEС). The blockchain is built on Graphene framework.
Protocol updates
- Possibility to set quorum percentage for each proposal type independently.
- Simplified account creation process — it has become more straightforward with custom account creation fee set by a creator for more accurate control over newly created account’s balances.
- Easier research tokens transfer —now it requires fewer parameters and is easier to be made using the wallet.
- Advanced vesting balances with vesting cliff and lockout periods.
- Updated content weight calculation for the Final Result content type.
- Improved validation of proposal data.
- Fixed bugs.
Preparation for the public testnet launch
- Separate Docker images for the DEIP testnet low-memory node, full node, and wallet. Images now weigh 5–10 times less than before.
- Updated wallet documentation.
- DEIP Testnet Block Explorer.
The day of the public testnet launch is approaching soon. On September 6th we will officially announce the launch at the TechCrunch Disrupt event in San Francisco. You can already try the private blockchain testnet today. We have created a manual that will walk you through on how to launch the node, run the wallet, create an account and etc. Get involved today!
