I’m co-running an online workshop on Open Working and Reuse with my sidekick Ellen. The workshop is for the brilliant cohort of 30 social impact organisations for Deloitte Digital Connect 2023–2024. I’m giving a quick demo of Medium and how to start writing a post. This is the start of the demo post in action!

Good things

  • We’ve recruited 30 Deloitte volunteer mentors, all experts in service design, and started matching them with the 30 charity and social enterprise leads. Looking forward to hearing how those first conversations go. Big compliments to Katie, Deloitte Volunteer Lead, for making all this happen!
  • So far we’ve run workshops on service design, user research and open working as part of the Discovery Phase. The Deloitte trainers have been very engaged and enthusiastic which has been great to see. We hope the content has been useful for you (DDC participants). Let us know what could be better for future workshops…and make sure you’ve signed up to the next one on Online collaboration tools for user research!
  • There’s lots of sharing in the sessions — it’s been great to hear how everyone is getting on, some of the challenges participants are facing and also some of the excitement about addressing digital challenges collectively. It’s prompted Ellen and I to do more open sharing too so get used to these! Find out how to get started onthe Deloitte Digital Connect publication.

Bad things

  • I fell ill this week. Being ill, with two young children and deadlines is never a good combo. Big thanks to Ellen for helping out, one of the great positives of co-leading on programmes.
  • We had fun with Jamboard in the workshop this week. Lots of love for it. It’s a pretty accessible and user-friendly whiteboarding tool. It’s a real shame that Google is discontinuing Jamboard at the end of the year. So let’s make the most of it (and line up a suitable replacement for next year). We’ll also be introducing other similar tools in the workshop next week.

Best thing

Reading all the inspiring open working commitments on the workshop Jamboard (see the image below). It’s inspired us to do the same, thank you. Looking forward to supporting each other more on this journey — starting next week with some Peer Learning Meetups!

Missed the workshop? Catch up on the recording in the Support Guide. Also check out Ellen’s weeknotes and reflections on the workshop. Over to you. Go!

P.S. I’m writing weeknotes for Deloitte Digital Connect, a programme run in partnership with Deloitte which connects charities and social enterprises with digital expertise and advice. Read more about how to start writing weeknotes, find a template that works for you (I’m trying out ‘The good, the bad and the ugly’), set aside 30 minutes — and go for it!
