Update 04/2022:
The Black Eye Galaxy team has decided to relaunch the game under the new title Spaceborne.
The team stated that it has come to the conclusion that “the current state of Black Eye Galaxy (…) cannot be scalable to match the expectations of the team for future iterations and changes (…)”.
Specifically, the team explains further that they want to distance themselves more from the profit motive with Spaceborne:
“(…) projects must move away from the play-to-earn paradox which places too much focus on earning and little on entertainment and social interaction — which is essentially the two most important factors for players remaining in a game. The team has been attempting to shift away from focusing too much on the earning aspects and instead dedicating development time to maximizing external revenue streams for the project.”
Concrete changes are especially reflected in the area of their tokenomics:
In order to build a sustainable play and earn game, the team has decided that a dual-token economy is required through the creation of two separate tokens — a limited DAO token and an unlimited rewards token.

Black Eye Galaxy (BYG) is a “Play-to-Earn” NFT game with a variety of user-owned in-game assets such as spaceships, buildings, and even planets. Its Metaverse is divided into star clusters, each of which belongs exclusively to one blockchain. Players can choose from a variety of activity types to play and earn BYG tokens in the process, e.g. crafting different kinds of buildings, mining planet resources and even 3D spaceship racing.
