The team is at the core of everything we do here at Destructive Digital and the bond between us is essential to our amazing workplace culture. Being a digital company it’s really important for us to disconnect from the grid now and then, shut the laptops and return to the physical world.

Developing interpersonal relationships within the team is a really core part of our culture. To help this flourish we have a get together once a month, not working but just socialising and getting to know each other better.

Last month (April 2018) we visited Tamatanga, a delicious Indian street food eatery. Therefore it’s no surprise that this month we kept with the food theme and decided to explore a restaurant combined Gin Distillery near our new office!

Situated on the canal with the few days of our gorgeous British summertime, The Distillery was a perfect choice for a team lunch.

Atmosphere

The atmosphere was super quirky and the interior has a charming and modern feel to it. The place has a great feel with amazing decor ensuring that you never forget you’re in a distillery.

On the ground floor we discovered an outside, canal side, dining area with the inside bar combined dining space. Due to it being a British summers day we stayed inside as it wasn’t quite that warm…

Food

A little later than usual lunch meant on arrival we were keen to dig in! With a great menu we didn’t struggle to pick something delicious. The food was presented with a rustic feel, with the team opting for burgers, chicken and pizza! You can’t go wrong eh?

Team Reviews

Gagan says

“I loved the vibe at The Distillery, and the fact it’s located right beside the canal, which was perfect considering the gorgeous weather. In terms of food, I went for the classic sourdough margarita pizza (pizza is one of my favourite foods). The pizza was lovely and the perfect size for me which meant nothing went to waste. With such a great filling meal the afternoon was a sleepy one but I will definitely visit again.”

Dean says

“Having a nice lunch with great people, on a sunny day in a canal side distillery — it can’t get any better. We’re also striving to find interesting and fun places for the team to socialise, relax and get to know each other better and The Distillery hits the mark.

The food looked and tasted great, with a fast friendly service and great range of drinks. A firm favourite of the teams with us having been back a few times already!”

Alex says

“A new era is coming for eateries and pubs and the Distillery is a clear sign of that. The rustic feel combined with great food makes it a great place to spend lunch. Situated alongside the famous Birmingham canals (more than Venice), it is in the perfect spot to enjoy the sun with a cold drink on a beautiful summers day. I was so impressed that i’ve already been back a few times already.

Great experience, great people.”

James says

“Upstairs is a classic looking pub lifted by a great looking distillery however I strongly recommend heading downstairs where you will find a brunch vibe with great leather bound chairs and views of the canal. Food was great, Gagan's’ pizza looked great, with a firm crunch, thin and tasty. When the sun is out, I’m sure the team will head back.”

Conclusion

The Distillery has it all; the location, the decor, the fantastic food and summer vibes!

We will definitely be visiting again, especially on those hot summer lunch breaks.
