Overview

With this major update since the end of the bonding curve sale, we want to give you insights into what the team has been up to and what we are working on.

Major developments include access to the DIA token via listings at major exchanges, acceleration of business development efforts to integrate DIA oracles into the wider DeFi ecosystem, development work on cross-chain functionalities as well as implementation of DAO infrastructure, the launch of DIA’s ecosystem grants program, ‘DIA Labs’, new team hires and an airdrop to all long term DIA holders.

KuCoin & Airdrop 🛫

We begin by shedding light on the KuCoin incident. The security breach that occurred at the end of September sent ripples through the crypto-sphere as a hacker stole a reported $200M+ from the exchange’s hot wallets. Following KuCoin’s promise to reimburse all affected investors, a range of projects decided to fork and reissue their token. Firm in our belief in decentralisation, we decided against this course of action. At the same time we will mitigate adverse effects on our community by distributing the same amount of tokens to all long term hodlers that support DIA as an airdrop in January. Read up on the details here.

We are in the process of coordinating and implementing a solution for the affected investors with KuCoin. While we had hoped to get to a solution faster, we continue to push for an insurance driven resolution as announced by KuCoin. We will continue to update you as the situation evolves. Rest assured: We will escalate this until you have your tokens back.

Token 💎

$DIA, while not unaffected by the general market downturn in early September and the KuCoin hack holds strong. Fluctuating in a range between $1.20 and $1.60, it largely correlates to general market and peer price movements.

Since our public distribution, DIA has been officially listed at the following exchanges, making it accessible to a huge investor community through a number of pairs:

Partnerships 🤝

Intensifying business development efforts, we have integrated DIA oracles into a wide range of dApps and will announce more exciting collabs in the near future. Here is who has joined the DIA ecosystem since end of August:

  • Elrond: A technology ecosystem focused on DeFi and IoT. DIA delivers off-chain & cross-chain data and information for DeFi products and smart contracts via DIA oracles and makes Elrond blockchain data available to DIA users.
  • Crypto.com — UX focused crypto wallet, exchange, and payment card.
  • Ankr: An infrastructure platform and marketplace for Web3-stack deployment & decentralised nodes. DIA and Ankr collaborate to further decentralize primary sourced data collection in various blockchains.
  • ADD.XYZ: A protocol that unifies DeFi protocols and blockchain infrastructure. DIA delivers decentralised data oracles to the ADD.XYZ platform to power their newly relaunched full-stack DeFi aggregation platform.
  • Hedget: A DeFi option trading platform. Hedget will make use of DIA’s price oracle infrastructure to value their decentralised options.
  • Gather: A platform that allows publishers to monetise without ads, provides businesses & developers to access cheap and reliable processing power. DIA provides transparent price oracles into Gather’s ad-free content monetisation platform as well as integrating DIA into Gather Online’s payout mechanism.
  • Polkastarter: A DEX built for cross-chain token pools and auctions. DIA provides price oracles to Polkastarter to enable DeFi trading, pricing and anti-slippage features based on transparent, auditable price oracles as well as to accelerate the sourcing, verification, and use of data from network participants in the Polkastarter ecosystem.
  • Cryptolocally: Marketplace for purchasing cryptocurrency in your local currency. DIA provides Cryptolocally with decentralised oracles for cryptocurrency pricing and fundamentals, DeFi lending rates and states and fiat exchange rate data feeds to the end-to-end DeFi gateway platform.
  • OIN Finance: DIA and OIN Finance announce a cooperation to bring trusted, transparent price feeds to OINs infrastructure gateway to decentralised finance. OIN Finance will be leveraging DIA’s open-source price Oracles to fuel its infrastructure, including modules like the OINDAO.

DIA Labs 🧪

In order to support the development of fundamental building blocks for the DeFi ecosystem, both as open-source building blocks as well as proprietary solutions, we launched DIA Labs, an acceleration and grant program for individuals, teams and organisations that want to build on and around DIA.

Our website is live at labs.diadata.org and we are proud to show off our first cohort of mentors:

Applications are already coming in and the first projects will be announced in a future update.

Team 👥

The DIA team is growing. While we are hiring key positions in tech and business development, we are excited to announce a key addition to the product team:

Sam’s diverse background and expertise spans business management, product management, agile methodologies, and operations. His efforts will help empower our core teams and keep them at the top of their game, further boosting capacity and productivity. Sam has a bachelor’s degree in business management, and a juris doctorate (law degree), and has been active in the San Francisco Bay Area blockchain scene since 2014, with experience handling cross-chain integrations, oracle systems, and distributed systems, cofounding and successfully exiting a decentralised file storage startup. Welcome on board, Sam!!

We continue to look out for talent, especially to join our tech team:

Community 🗣

We can’t thank our dedicated and loyal community enough for all the support, engagement, interest, feedback and criticism that helps us shape what DIA is and will become. While the core community is steadily growing, we have set up localised groups for key markets to spread DIA’s message:

We are working tirelessly to build exciting new features and applications that will create value and engagement possibilities for the entire community. Watch this space! There are exciting projects in the pipeline which will be shared soon.

Press 📰

The media has shown wide interest in the doings of DIA, resulting in several articles about DIA, our vision and our team.

Upcoming 👀

Our priority focus next to continuing development of the core product lies in developing a working DAO infrastructure in order to enable community engagement on a governance level. We are making great progress and are confident to have a beta version of our DAO ready for our first community vote in early December. We are excited to see what proposals the community will put forth and will share details on the process and functionality as soon as we can.

Other topics for the upcoming weeks and months include:

  • Continuing building a stellar Team
  • Cross-chain integrations
  • Nurturing the development of applications on DIA
  • Operationalising DIA Labs by screening the first applicants and onboarding projects
  • DIA proposal and feedback on community proposals
