Using NFT Communities’ Strength to Future-Proof the World’s Protected Ecosystems

Living up to our mission statement of “Until every expression of human creativity builds a better world” requires unity of action in pursuit of a common goal. To overcome the stubborn social dilemmas of collective action, it isn’t enough to simply cooperate; it takes great coordination and collaboration as well.

With this in mind, the Open Earth Foundation, a 501c3 research and deployment nonprofit, uses innovative technologies — namely the internet-of-things, artificial intelligence and blockchain — to advance open source platforms, and harnesses the cultural strength of NFT communities to raise funds for crucial conservation initiatives.

At DoinGud, we’re sustainably aligning incentives amongst all agents of change; leveraging human creativity as a response to any social problem. United with OpenEarth, DoinGud will be hosting the nonprofit’s next charitable NFT auction, OceanDrop, raising funds to launch an advanced marine conservation program.

Little Drops Make the Mighty Ocean

When faced with challenging — perhaps a bit intimidating — problems like protecting the Earth’s ocean, as humans we can sometimes feel insignificant or powerless.

OceanDrop promotes the idea that we each have a powerful force within us.

Gestalt art therapy draws inspiration from psychology principles, which suggest the whole is something else/greater than the sum of its parts. This humanist therapy is founded on the premise that we possess the extent of all we are right now, and with that understanding we can make sensible decisions and solve difficult problems.

Rallying Around the Cause

With previous success hosting the NFT art auction #CarbonDrop — featuring legendary creator Beeple, no less — OpenEarth raised an astonishing $6.6 Million for climate accounting technology. The nonprofit’s next NFT auction will see proceeds going towards supporting innovative blockchain technologies to better enforce illegal activity in ocean conservation zones and implement ecosystem service credits for financing marine conservation.

OceanDrop will include a diverse range of digital creators, and holographic displays. Prominent NFT creators include Nicole Buffett, Frentikvoid, our very own Kyle Gordon, Mieke Marple, Gilles Augustijnen, Kevin Mack, Sara Ludy, Anders Hjemdahl, SVN, Giancarlo Pucci, MB Boissonnault, Jens Kull and renown National Geographic photographers Paul Nicklen and Cristina Mittermeier.

The initiative’s impressive collaboration will see holographic display boxes from PORTL, Render Network as the official rendering sponsor, Offsetra, Creol, and KlimaDAO donating carbon offsets, and the incredible ocean-inspired NFTs. The art collection will also have a virtual gallery in the OVR Metaverse, an immersive experience that will also be auctioned as an NFT.

OceanDrop NFTs will be available on DoinGud and SuperRare from December 3 to 6, 2021, with 100% of the proceeds and platform fees going to OpenEarth’s ocean initiative and its first pilot project in the Cocos Island marine sanctuary.
