DOS Network Monthly Report (Mid March ~ April)

⚙️ Product and development

We’re on the stacking for the coming beta release.

• Fixed node cpu overloading and out of memory issues.
• Switched from Kademlia DHT to Gossip SWIM for network routing, performed more simulation and testing for the p2p layer.
• Experimented with Geth light node instead of full node to further reduce node runners’ maintenance cost.
• Developed installation script for both Docker and binary deployment.
• Upgraded system contracts to support Solidity 0.5.x.
• Using client side watchdog and guardian nodes to kick off new round of distributed randomness generation instead of idle spinning and gas wasting.
• Supported parallel oracle request handling.
• Implemented guardian functions. Guardian is like the keepers in the MakerDao system, every one including but not limited to DOS client nodes are able to run guardian scripts (to be developed) and get rewarded. As of now guardian functions are only integrated into client nodes.
• Finalized bootstrap process and implemented commit-reveal mechanisms for securely generating the genesis random number.
• Simplest staking contract development and testnet token issuance.
• System contract gas optimizations and hacks.

🤝 New Partnerships

• DOS Network has reached a strategic partnership with QuarkChain. The two parties will provide more use cases for each other, collaborate to meet the global-wise commercial standard as well as promote the mass adoption of decentralized applications.

• DOS Network and The Force Protocol have formally established a long-term strategic partnership. Both parties will collaborate closely in the field of distributed crypto-financial services and achieve more blockchain financial application scenarios.

• DOS Network has become a member of the Enterprise Ethereum Alliance (EEA), the world’s largest open source blockchain initiative with more than 300 member companies. It is our pleasure to join the EEA to contribute to its mission — Enhance the privacy, security, and scalability of Ethereum-based blockchain technologies.

🙌 Events

• DOS Network successfully conducted the 1,000,000 DOS bounty program with BitMax. More than 5,000 users participated in the program and 397,326 Entries in total.
• Qi Wang, DOS Network Co-founders and COO conducted an AMA session in Unitimes community, a leading worldwide fintech media platform.
• DOS Network proposed an innovative token distribution model — DropBurn to bootstrap a staking based network.

Introducing DropBurn: A new model to bootstrap staking network

We’d like to share and collect feedback from the community, interested developers, potential beta testers and node runners.

• DOS Network’s co-founder, Siyuan Hua, was invited to attend Chicago meetup with BitMax, CTIA, and Ankr Network to discuss the current state and future development of the digital asset. Siyuan delivered a presentation to share valuable insights about DropBurn and participated in a panel: The Transformational Role of Blockchain Technology.

• Eric Nien, Tech Lead of DOS Network, conducted a meetup for our community with Grenade Lab in Taiwan. During the meetup, Eric delivered keynote speeches with the theme of “Oracle— The Core Component of Dapps”, held games to let attendees have a better understanding of how DOS Network works and conducted an AMA for participants.

• Siyuan Hua, DOS Network Co-founders and CEO conducted an AMA session in TokenGazer community, a leading blockchain intelligence network in China.
• DOS Network held “Prize-winning Articles” campaign in Bihu community, one of the largest crypto investor and knowledge sharing community in China. The first prize(15,000 DOS), the second prize(7,500 DOS), the third prize(6,000 DOS) and etc. 19 authors in total received rich rewards.
• DOS Network and Bihu jointly held “DOS Network’s Beta is Coming Online! Great Giveaways!” campaign. 11,856 users participated in the campaign and more than 800 supporters applied for being node operators.
• DOS Network’s co-founder & COO, Qi Wang and Business Development Manager, Xiaohu Sun were invited as the VIP guests at the “DeFi The World” forum. During the event, Qi introduced various aspects of the Oracle: why does blockchain industry need oracle; use cases; the comparison among different kinds of oracle and etc.
