As we roll into March and the first signs of spring appear on the horizon, it’s a great time to take a brief look back at all that’s occurred over the previous weeks.

A Smarter Bitcoin

Announced at the end of 2019, bringing the power of Dune smart contracts to Bitcoin is a priority for the team. While it’s no secret that other blockchains are working on similar developments, there are several key factors that stand us apart from the crowd. Take a look at this piece published recently; “Where is Dune? A Short Comparison with Bitcoin and Ethereum”, highlighting the progress we’re making in this area!

Keeping it Confidential

Conversations of cryptocurrency and privacy come practically joined at the hip nowadays. As the space evolves, so too will the push for anonymity on the blockchain. It is with much pride then, that the Dune team shared recent developments of an “ERC20-like” token mixer. You can read all about it in; “Experimenting with Privacy using Sapling in Liquidity”.

Validator Program, Round 2

In light of the massive number of applications we received during our first window, we are delighted to announce the second session of our Validator Program. Successful applicants will receive a delegation of 900k Dune via smart contract, with which to secure their baking operation. Each case will be dealt with on an individual basis so please take a look if you feel you can bring something special to your bakes! You can find the form and more details in; “Dune Network Validator Program: Second Session”.

Where did I put those d*mn keys?!

Misplacing keys to your front door can be frustrating. Perhaps you might need to get a new one cut if they’re truly lost, but what do we do when we lose the keys to our crypto? If it can happen to Peter Schiff, it can happen to anyone! Well here at Dune, we’ve come up with a clever solution to just this problem; Recovery Accounts! Read all about this unique new feature coming to Dune soon, in; “What’s new in Dune? Part 1: recovery Accounts”.

Love isn’t just for Valentines…

Following on from the first part of our introduction to Love, “The Love Language Smart Contract Language: Introduction & Key Features — Part II”, heavily expands upon the power of Love. If you need more convincing still, you can also check out the official documentation at; https://dune.network/docs/dune-dev-docs/love-doc/introduction.html

Progressive burn update

Following the successful upgrade to protocol 005, the operation for the progressive token burn has been implemented. The first burn occurred at Cycle 117, with roughly 47 million $DUN burned, with the next set to take at cycle 127. A full list of those addresses affected is available at; https://bakingdunes.com/blog/2020/02/10/did-you-get-burned/. Many thanks to Baking Dunes for putting this list together!

We’ve got even more lined up for the coming weeks, so until then;

Stay Duned!
