Next week Earth Genome is showing up strong at SatSummit in DC. Ben, Cam, Dan, Jeff, Hutch, Keith, Kwin, Mikey and me. There’s no better place for the release of the Earth Index alpha. We have a lot more to share, and can’t wait to talk real technology and real impact. Let us know if you’re going to be there.

SatSummit is a coming together of the community that’s home for our work. SatSummit is a low BS environment, where we can dig deep on what’s working, and what’s not, all to improve life on Earth. Seeing this event happen is important to us and we are so proud for the opportunity to sponsor it this year.

Friday morning, Ben is talking about earth foundation models, how they differ from other AI models and how we leverage them in Earth Index. Earth Index has proven to make a difference today, detecting artisanal mining in the Amazon, finding cattle feedlots around the world, and assisting indigenous communities monitor deforestation and other threats to native lands. With launch targeted for SatSummit, we’re excited to get Earth Index into more hands. (If you want to get on the waitlist for Earth Index, sign up here.)

I will also share this work at the World Bank on Thursday morning during the LAND Conference. Earth Genome recently joined the Development Data Partnership, and through it we’ve connected on and started evaluating key use cases in mining, water management, and population displacement.

Thursday afternoon, Cam is joining incredible builders of new web browser capabilities for working with geo data, and talking about why it matters in connecting data with its audience. The Plotline has elevated vital research on the resilience of food systems to climate shocks, interventions that have high potential to adapt to a changing climate, and tools to grapple with the complexity of choices facing policy makers and implementers.

Friday morning, I finally have the chance to talk about TRACE in public after helping build it. There are so many ways satellite imagery (along with data science and AI) is essential to the TRACE coalition to build bottom up emissions tracking at a granularity which enables action. Satellite data is used to find the locations of facilities (which we’re helping do with Earth Index), detail components of facilities, measure activity levels and train models with direct emission measurements.

We are excited to see our community in person. Reach out so we can meet up!
