The past couple of weeks has flown by since we released our Q2 company update, and as we continue to develop Collect we want to keep you as informed as possible moving forward. After exhibiting at RISE conference in Hong Kong, the team was quick to move, heading to New York to touch base with our head of licensing Al Kahn, and as the development of Collect continues at a startling pace, we are getting closer to the exciting end of the stick!

What Does Al Kahn Collect?

In case you weren’t already aware, Alfred Kahn is a licensing hall of Famer, who’s properties are responsible for more than $25 Billion in retail revenue. He is not only an expert in licensing, branding, digital media, and marketing, he is also the CEO of Crane Kahn LLC, another ECOMI partner and the primary force behind our marketing and go-to-market strategies.

While the team was in NY, we asked the ECOMI community for their questions, and the first one to be answered was “What does Al Collect?”

As you may have imagined, with so many of the worlds top grossing entertainment brands and licenses, Al collects memorabilia from each one. With names like Pokémon, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Thundercats and more under his belt, he’s collected some pretty awesome artworks along the way.

Secure Wallet Updates

A number of updates have also been made to the Secure Wallet recently.

First and foremost, we have changed the format for your seed phrase (private key) from numerical to alphabetical. This brings the Secure Wallet into line with other cold storage devices, making it easier to remember your phrase, but also allows you to:

  • Import accounts from other cold storage devices which use the same BIP standard.
  • Operate both a hot and cold wallet (when the hot wallet feature of the ECOMI app becomes active), and migrate your tokens from one to the other- making the process of moving all of your assets to one place much simpler and easier to use.

If you were the proud owner of a Secure Wallet before this update went live- don’t worry! Your numerical seed phrases are still valid, and you can now convert them to alphabetical at any time using the ECOMI app. Simply hit the link below for instructions on how to do so.

Transaction and history issues for BCH have also been sorted, and we have added an invoicing feature to allow you to generate invoices and request payments in crypto, from within the ECOMI app.

Although not live yet, this update stands to make everyone’s life easier to request transfers and payments directly into cold storage and paves the way for more frequent and larger-scale transactions with digital currencies.

This update (2.9.0) will also add token support for the Binance (BNB) mainnet token and USDT.
If you are currently holding the ERC20 version of the BNB token, the easiest way to convert it is to send it to your Binance account. There are instructions that can be found at Binance, and you will need to send your ERC20 BNB tokens to your existing ETH address, and the exchange will automatically make the swap for you.

To stay up to date with the development of the Secure Wallet, you can navigate specifically to that page using the options in the header menu, or simply hit this link.

ECOMI Collect

Of course, we all know you really want an update on the development of ECOMI Collect. Last week Benn and the MB team were back in Taiwan, and are happy to report a number of features have now been finalised and/or integrated:

  1. The in-app token model has been finalised, and the frontend and backend development has begun for this integration. We look forward to sharing more details on this in future updates.
  2. The Master Collector program has also been finalised, and development and testing are underway.
  3. In the Showroom, we have been busy developing the visual aesthetics, including working on lighting, shadows, textures, and placements.
  4. The onboarding process (login / register / facebook sign up) is completed. This is a huge step for our mass-market targeting, as it will make the sign-up process incredibly simple, again reducing barriers to entry that wallets, crypto, and blockchain can often create.
  5. Augmented reality integration/Content Creation: The 3D models for the initial digital collectibles are in full swing and the renders are looking amazing!

Testing is now underway to ensure that these activities and implementations, as well as the rewards and incentives that go with them, are operating correctly. With each new feature signed off and implemented, we also move one step closer to the internal beta, which is now on the horizon!

ECOMI Collect Launch Roadmap

As you may be aware, the rollout of Collect will take place in 3 stages:

  1. Closed beta testing within the team (up to 20 people). This stage will require daily activities to be performed within the app to fully test its capabilities and identify any bugs and updates required.
  2. Closed launch, up to 2500 people, including community members, influencers and industry professionals (ranging from crypto and blockchain to collectibles, new tech, media and more).
This also offers an opportunity to collect some of the first (and arguably rarest) digital collectibles available on the platform, as well as providing real-time feedback and testing for the app itself. It is expected that the closed launch will operate for around 3 months.
  3. Global launch. It is expected that the global launch of Collect will take place towards the end of the year, Q4 at the earliest and taking into account the closed launch, is most likely to be available just this side of Christmas.

Of course, with tech developments, and more specifically those which aim to completely disrupt an industry like ECOMI Collect, these timelines are subject to change, as we will ensure the product not only over-delivers but will also ensure the safety and security of your digital assets.

In saying that, we will continue to release company updates each fortnight, to keep you informed and share the excitement as we approach the launch of our premium, licensed digital collectibles platform.
