May began with Burning and Crafting- a brand new feature that allowed Marvel fans to get their hands on the most powerful artifact in the universe! Star Wars fans were rewarded with the one-and-only Luke Skywalker, and Capcom made their first appearance on the platform.

Burn and Craft on VeVe

One of the most exciting new features to hit VeVe went live in May, allowing collectors to craft new collectibles using their existing items. Of course, in true VeVe style, it kicked off with one of the most anticipated collectible releases to date- the Marvel Studios Infinity Gauntlet.

In order to participate, Collectors first had to “sacrifice,” or burn, a premium digital collectible to obtain the Soul Stone.

Then, one week later, the Infinity Gauntlet was released, and collectible holders had the option to power (craft) the gauntlet by burning all infinity stone artifacts, including the Soul Stone, which had been progressively released on the platform.

If you missed any of the details or want to learn more about burning and crafting, please check out the drop release article and the VeVe breakdown videos, which you can find here.

As an added bonus, VeVe collectors who chose to craft and empower their Gauntlet will also receive a Thanos — Philosopher collectible airdropped, and anyone who used the Secret Rare Eye of Agamotto will also receive a Thanos — Warrior airdrop!

Celebrating Star Wars

May is a particular month of celebration for Star Wars fans, and VeVe didn’t disappoint- releasing Star Wars™: Return of the Jedi Luke Skywalker Character Series- to digital collectors around the world on May 4th.

Fans were able to get their hands on this high-end collectible representation of Luke in an assortment of poses with his lightsaber ready for battle, and of course, the release sold out in short order.

Luke wasn’t the only first appearance from Star Wars in May, as the Star Wars: Return of the Jedi Collection offered fans even more from their favorite franchise, with the first appearance of Jabba the Hut, Rancor, and Admiral Ackbar dropping on May 19, alongside a range of Star Wars: Return of the Jedi Posters on May 29.

If you missed any of these premium digital collectible releases, you can complete your sets in the VeVe Market, and of course, be sure to follow VeVe socials so you stay up to date!

VeVe Welcomes Capcom

VeVe released the first digital collectible NFTs in May from Capcom- Monster Hunter World: Iceborne. Capcom is an internationally renowned game software developer based in Osaka, Japan, whose ‘principle objective is to be a creator of entertainment culture.’

Monster Hunter is a series of hunting action games pitting players against giant monsters in beautiful natural environments. The series has grown into a mega-hit, and the number of fans has increased steadily since the first Monster Hunter title debuted in 2004.

It is also one of Capcoms best selling titles and most popular franchises. The original Monster Hunter: World has sold 18.8 million copies of the game, Monster Hunter Rise 12.7 million, and Monster Hunter World: Iceborne more than 10 million copies worldwide.

We are incredibly excited to introduce Capcom to our community of digital collectors and look forward to sharing more with you in the future.

Phygital Collectibles with Patrick Hughes

Fans of Patrick Hughes's Reverspective art have been truly rewarded lately, with his Reverspective Art Series 2 awarding one lucky winner a signed and numbered physical ‘Robotic’ 3D Reversepective artwork in April.

This was followed up in May with Patrick Hughes — SpaceFace — available as a 1/1 through the VeVe Artworks program, where the silent auction winner also takes home the physical counter piece.

Constantly playing with the idea of capturing and shifting perspective, SpaceFace is a sculptured piece of the artist's face that appears to follow you’re whereabouts.

“If I fell face-down in some soft mud and someone pulled me out, and there was some low light falling on the impression I had made in the mud, it would look like me, with my nose sticking out even though it had plunged into the mud. (This is a natural phenomenon, unlike artificial perspective, and my own reverspective). In SpaceFace, this inside-out painted sculpture of my head, I have painted the hollow face as if it sticks out — and my face seems to follow you around the room.”
— Patrick

VeVe x Sesame Street

The second release from Sesame Workshop also hit VeVe in May with Oscar the Grouch- one of the most recognized characters in the children’s educational show- Sesame Street.

With its signature mix of laughter, learning, and iconic characters, Sesame Street has engaged fans, enriched young minds, and brought people closer for over five decades.

This is the second release from Sesame Workshop, with crowd favorite Cookie Monster also now available on the platform. If you missed either drop, you can still pick up your favorite Sesame Street characters in the VeVe Store and get all of the details about Oscar in the VeVe collectible breakdown video.

VeVeVerse

In case you missed it, an update was posted on May 23 on VeVe Twitter as to the current status of the VeVeVerse beta rollout:

We continue to make good progress on the VeVeVerse; however, as with all new technologies with many moving parts, a few unexpected complications have arisen, particularly with the asset conversion — there are almost 1,000 collectibles to be converted and reviewed…At this stage, our intent is to have a handful of early testers running around in the VeVeVerse early next quarter.

We understand this is longer than expected, but it is important to us that we release a quality product. As such, we are working to ensure all aspects of the project are completed to a satisfactory level before releasing it to the #VeVeFam.

We are just as excited as you to get the VeVeVerse live and will continue to update you on its progress as development continues.
