Why we crave connection

As human beings, we’re all wired for connection. (And yes, the most introverted individuals need connection too, even if it’s just one or two really good friends.)

We want to know deep down that we’re not alone, that someone else can relate to who we are and what we’re experiencing.

Connection makes us more resilient to heartache, disappointment, and depression. It doesn’t necessarily make the hardship any easier, but it gives us hope that we can make it through.

Connection is our lifeline when we feel like we’re drowning.

We cultivate connection by showing empathy. And one of the best ways to show empathy is to be present — to let someone know they’re not alone.

Who will you connect with today?

“Empathy fuels connection.” — Brene Brown
