Staking our claim in PropTech, differentiating in the market, providing as much value as humanly possible.

This is the third part in a four-part series. Read part one here. Read part two here.

Estated and our mission

Just like I mentioned at the beginning of the series, Estated is the result of years of growth, evolution, and pivots in real estate tech.

Our mission at Estated is to make property data widely available to the masses. We aim to be the backbone data source behind up-and-coming PropTech companies as they innovate and disrupt the real estate industry.

“PropTech is one small part of a wider digital transformation in the property industry. It considers both the technological and mentality change of the real estate industry, and its consumers to our attitudes, movements and transactions involving both buildings and cities”

— James Dearsley (KPMG, 2017)

Traditionally we’ve offered a “CarFax for Homes” style property report which covers all of the details any prospective buyer would want to know about a home. The property report has evolved over the years to where it is today. The modern version comes with updated features, premium data options, and a fresh look.

Intro to Estated Data

To reiterate our mission:

We want to make property data widely available to the masses. We aim to be the backbone data source behind up-and-coming PropTech companies as they innovate and disrupt the real estate industry.

Estated Data is our vehicle for doing so.

Estated Data is our B2B data product which will allow PropTech companies to gain full access to American residential real estate market data.

Differentiating by delivery

There are a handful of companies able to sell property data to businesses right now. Real estate agents can also get access to MLS data. The problem is that the legacy data providers are expensive and inaccessible for a host of reasons including enterprise-level pricing and restrictive terms, and the MLS is exclusive to members.

We’ve built our database from the ground up and we decide what we want to do with it. We’ve decided that it should be available for all.

The model is self-serve and pay-as-you-go, meaning you choose which datasets you need and you only pay for your usage. No all-or-nothing contracts and no locking you in for years. There’s nothing preventing you from setting up and using our API in the next 15 minutes.

Something that we’ve heard from our users, which makes us proud, is that our API is the easiest integration they’ve ever done. We’ve seen users set up and start running some serious numbers in a matter of hours.

Who it’s for

At the time of writing, we have clients in PropTech, real estate, insurance, lending, property management, marketing, renewable energy, and more. Some of our clients are reinventing the industries they operate in.

The data is useful for any business who uses property addresses, property details, or homeowner info at any stage in their funnel or workflow. This could on the employee side or even on the user side.

Picture saving your users the trouble of filling out a signup form or even a mortgage application. The average time to close a mortgage is hovering around 46 days — automating the 1003 form process could dramatically reduce that length of time.

Have special offers you want to share with your mailing list? Identify exactly which past clients would be interested in each specific offer depending on the characteristics of their home.

Want to send traffic to an automated quote funnel for lead gen? Have users enter relevant personal details including home address, and we can generate the data to help you calculate a quote estimate.

These are some examples of how our data is currently being used. Every day we have someone ask us about the feasibility of a new use case and we love exploring the potential impact we can have on your business. If there’s something you have in mind, contact us!
