An Exclusive Sneak Peek at ETHDenver 2020’s Gamified BuffiDAO Ecosystem
Wondering how you’ll be able to earn influence, reputation points, create a custom Bufficorn avatar and more in the BuffiDAO? Our exclusive sneak peek offers a taste of the fun you’ll get to experience as an ETHDenver attendee next month.
As you may have seen in our 2020 announcement, ETHDenver is taking steps to evolve into a DAO at our upcoming BUIDLathon February 14–16 thanks to a massive collaboration with Austin Griffith, Polina Aladina, Fortmatic, MakerDAO, DAOStack, Colony, Bounties Network, Gitcoin, Burner Factory, 3Box, Pepo, POAP, Devfolio, OpenSea, Quantstamp and ConsenSys. Each of these projects will be releasing information individually on their specific role in the development of the BuffiDAO, but today, we’re giving you a sneak peak into the gamification that will be integrated into the BuffiDAO ecosystem. From start to finish, ETHDenver’s BUIDLathon & Community Gathering attendees will have the opportunity to interact with Web3 tech in a number of unprecedented ways in what is the world’s first in-event live video game application powered by a DAO. Here’s a preview of how your ETHDenver experience will work:
Check-In: From the moment you check-in at ETHDenver, you’ll be interacting with Web3 tech thanks to Fortmatic’s identity integration within the BuffiDAO. When you registered for ETHDenver with Devfolio, you created your Fortmatic ID, which will act as your BUIDLathon ticket. Your ID will be authenticated at check-in and your public key will be printed as a QR code on the front of your badge. Think of this like your “membership card” to ETHDenver. You’ll scan your public key QR code with your phone, which will then open your own burner wallet (an ETHDenver 2019 tech pilot). From there, you can start exploring The Sports Castle and earning experience points (XP) as you complete “missions” like visiting venue spaces, interacting with sponsors, finding Easter Eggs, donating to charity with MakerDAO, Flash Events and so much more. If you participated in our Kudos Scavenger Hunt Game with Gitcoin last year, that was just a slice of what this year’s interactive ecosystem will entail.
BUIDL Your Custom Bufficorn Avatar: Once you’ve checked in and accessed the BuffiDAO gamified ecosystem, you’ve got to do it in style! Thanks to Gitcoin, you’ll create your own custom Bufficorn avatar which will serve as your personalized picture representation in the BuffiDAO. As you earn XP throughout the weekend, you’ll have the option to add unique features to your avatar, unlock custom skins (think pink fur!) and more.
Explore ETHDenver’s BUIDLathon: Now that your Bufficorn avatar is styled, it’s time to meet the herd! The more you interact with the BuffiDAO, the more your time, attention and resources allow you to build your BuffiDAO reputation as a stakeholder. Earn BuffiDAO experience points by forming your BUIDL team, catching a set in the DJ Chill Room, exploring art in the MakerSpace, checking out a talk or workshop, recharging in the Zen Zone, meeting with sponsors in the Shill Zone, or many other ETHDenver events and activities.
Keep an eye on your burner wallet because ETHDenver will randomly send out Easter Egg hints, banner notifications on flash events and more that you won’t want to miss! And remember: your XP is more than just points and BuffiDAO reputation; it exists in your wallet as tokens, along with BuffiDAI, that you will use to qualify for rare swag and other ETHDenver items within the ecosystem’s economy.
Lead the Bufficorn Herd: As you earn XP for your event participation, keep an eye on the leaderboards posted in your burner wallet and throughout The Sports Castle! Your avatar will be able to access newer and higher levels with the more XP you earn. Every attendee will start out at the Marmot rank but only the most engaged participants will have the chance to reach the coveted UltraTopSecretMegaPegaBufficorn rank over the course of the weekend.
ETHDenver will reward the Top 10 Bufficorns in the BuffiDAO each day with a rare yellow PegaBufficorn bike jersey to sport at the BUIDLathon. Your leader rewards go way deeper than Tour de France-style swag though: every point you earn gets you BuffiDAO reputation. The more you accumulate, the more you’ll be able to use your XP power as voting influence on final project submissions and help decide who will receive prizes for the ETHDenver 2020 BUIDLathon.
