Eximchain has released a tool for launching Quorum clusters in AWS. Although functionality is still being added to the tool, it already presents significant progress over existing technology. Other available tools primarily create local networks, but Eximchain’s tool can spin up real networks in the cloud.

As stated in Eximchain’s GitHub, “This software launches and uses real AWS resources. It is not a demo or a test.” The tool allows you to specify the number of makers, validators, and votes required to confirm a block, and it will then spin up a network in the cloud of the specified size.

Eximchain’s Director of Engineering, Louis Lamia, designed the software to determine the optimal characteristics for the Eximchain network, which will launch later this year. Louis, who previously worked on Elastic File System at AWS, is currently focused on setting up and managing the infrastructure to run the Eximchain network, and he sees the new tool as a crucial part of that process. “We will use this tool to stress-test Quorum networks,” Louis said. “We want to see how big we can scale them and how much load we can put on them. In order to do that efficiently, we need to be able to quickly and reliably produce a network of a given size, and that’s what this tool allows us to do.”

The Quorum cluster launching tool is publicly available on Eximchain’s GitHub, and others are encouraged to use and improve on the technology. The only word of warning from the engineering team is that use of the tool will incur costs from AWS for the infrastructure it uses.
