Release notes Sep. 2018
Besides a lot of small issues and bug fixes here are a few highlights of what has changed since our last release notes.
Frontend
Improved profile and cover images for social media
We encourage our users to share their content because sharing is caring. Unfortunately choosing the right aspect ratio and resolution for images is not trivial at all. Using image overlays with cloudinary, we were able to greatly improve the aesthetics of shared profiles and shows.
Dashboard
Why use the backdoor when you can simply teleport?
We’ve got a lot of positive feedback after introducing the possibility to allow audio file uploads to users without the need to give them administrator access. This is exactly why we decided to focus on making it even better.
Getting rid of possible negative associations about the name, we decided to rename the functionality to teleport.
A few things that were improved with teleport:
- Uploads will now retain their order in the dashboard
- Finished uploads are now listed in a separate section
- Teleport links can now also be created from the admin dashboard
Adding tracks overhauled
This is a big change to the way tracks are created, edited and selected.
When no tracks have been added to a show, the view is now much cleaner than it previously was, with a simply button Add Track and a more engaging dropzone.
When clicking the Add Track button, a nice modal opens up, that allows the user to create a track easily on the spot. It is also possible to change a track now, after it has been assigned.
And finally, since editing, assigning and deleting tracks can easily be done while editing a show, there is no need for the additional menu item Tracks, that’s why we removed it. Less menu items = Good!
Changing the order of recordings got simpler too. We now save the new order automatically without any user action required.
You created duplicate tracks by accident? Not anymore. We have now disallowed creating a track with the same name twice. If you actually have two tracks with the same name in your repertoire, you can simply add the author in parentheses after the name. The UI now simply offers to reuse the already existing track, or offers to Continue Editing.
Invite friends directly from your dashboard
Know someone who could be interested in joining Exit Live? Send them an invite directly from the Tools section in the dashboard. To make it more engaging, we’ve added a nice email preview right next to it.
