Where Heidi would feel at home! Loriga is a little village encircled by mountains in the municipality of Seia, in central Portugal. And is one of the glacial valleys in the Natural Park of Serra da Estrela massif. A place to admire water shaped stones, diverse fauna and flora and magnificent views to the forest and mountains, breathtaking.

Loriga, Portugal

Especially famous for its blue-flag beach, the only Portuguese beach located in a glacial valley. And only 7km away from the highest point of the mountain and Portugal! One of my favorite places.

Don’t forget to include Loriga in your “must visit” list if you’re going up to Serra da Estrela Natural Park, follow the link to plan your sightseeing tour: http://www.visitcentrodeportugal.com.pt/serra-da-estrela-natural-park/

Loriga, Portugal

“Water does not resist. Water flows. When you plunge your hand into it, all you feel is a caress. Water is not a solid wall, it will not stop you. But water always goes where it wants to go, and nothing in the end can stand against it. Water is patient. Dripping water wears away a stone. Remember that, my child. Remember you are half water. If you can’t go through an obstacle, go around it. Water does.”
― Margaret Atwood, The Penelopiad
