From Day to Night — No Quick-Change Needed!

Le Bain — Meatpacking District, NYC

Hoping everyone is enjoying this wonderful time of year! Today, I’m taking us back to highlight some stuff from one of my previous posts: What to Wear for the Holidays. If you haven’t read it yet, uhh, what are you waiting for? Okay, read this first, but then pleaseeeee go back! If you recall from that previous post, I had mentioned that I might be wearing one of the outfits from there for Christmas Eve. Ehhh, that didn’t really happen. I don’t know about you, but when it comes to picking out a look for a special occasion, I usually NEVER go with what I’m first thinking; come on, that would be too easy!🙄

There are many things I have to take into consideration. It really is a pain in the behind! First off, my boyfriend’s family and mine celebrate Christmas Eve usually out and about. For the last 2 years, we’ve been in New York City for dinner and drinks — fun fun! Next, you have to consider what the weather is going to be like. This year wasn’t so bad temperature-wise, and though I had to wear a heavier coat (ugh, I can’t tell you how much I don’t like coats), there were times in the night I didn’t even need it. So, if I’m going to be out for an early dinner with a night of drinks/dancing to follow (no quick-changes), I’m going to need an outfit that functions appropriately! Am I right?! Peep my outfit choice for Christmas Eve shown below. 👇🏼 It is dissected to give you some more detail of each piece.

🥑🥑🥑
  1. BDG Nelly Plaid Button-Down Shirt (Urban Outfitters, $29): I will always, always, always have some type of “jean” looking button down shirt. It is one of my staples. It’s big, but it compliments pretty much any outfit really nicely. Right now it’s on sale for $29! Pretty sweet deal! Unfortuntely, this wasn’t the case when I bought it. You can find it here 👉🏼 https://goo.gl/fqgrKY
  2. Cotton Spandex Mock Neck Cutout ‘Ryder’ Bodysuit (American Apparel, currently unavailable ☹️): This is a thong body suit with closures at the bottom, and a keyhole slit going down the back which offers just the right amount of sexy— A very versatile piece! I wasn’t sure how I felt about the neck at first because my neck is slender and long, but I really fell in love with it. The fact that it’s a body suit is awesome because it stays tucked in all night! I also received many compliments — woohoo!
  3. Black Denim Button-Front High-Waisted Mini Skirt (Forever 21, currently unavailable ☹️): I hate that these items are no longer available, sorry guys! This skirt is pretty basic. You probably have one thrown in your closet somewhere. I like that it sits near the belly-button so it offers more of an hour glass shape. I love anything high-waisted. 💁🏽 It was very comfortable to wear throughout the night.
  4. Sheer Spiral Pantyhose (American Apparel, $14 — YES, IT’S AVAILABLE GUYS!): I just bought these last week, and I LOVE them! Tights from American Apparel are very comfortable. They stay in place, so the days of constant adjusting are OVER! Halleluja! These offer a sophisticated look with a touch of flare! Definitely different in a good way! Dare to be different? 👉🏼 https://goo.gl/xgxfQ9
  5. Ribbed Modal Over-the-Knee Sock (American Apparel, $13): These socks are usually always on my feet — LOL, where else would you wear socks?😂 On a serious note, these are super soft and comfy, and you can dress them up or down. I used them to give more of an edgy look and also to keep my legs warm — it is winter, guys. Find it here 👉🏼 https://goo.gl/ra2n9x
  6. Steve Madden Booties (T.J.Maxx, $??): T.J.Maxx is an ‘off-price’ department store selling designer brands at discount prices. I bought these booties a long time ago. While I’m not sure about the price, I want to say it probably hovered around $30-$40 price range — Definitely quite the steal for Steve Madden Booties! These offer a small chunk heel, which were easy on my feet for a whole day/night out.

There you have it! A look that is cute for the day, but can easily function well for the evening. The best thing? — The tights were the only new purchase! You’ll be amazed at what you can create and re-create just by digging through your closet instead of your wallet!
