Part 1 Part 2

His brother Clyde was blasting “Tutti Frutti” on his new radio in the garage, his brother Lewis was sitting with Clyde and drinking the orange soda that had been sitting out in the hot sun for days, and seemed to be fully concentrated on the music. Valerie and Arlene were trying to flirt with the neighbour boys across the street. His sisters were too far away and preoccupied to pay any attention to what Frederick was doing. Preoccupied in this sentence means “too busy batting their eyelashes, and pretending to be cool to the older boys”. Frederick couldn’t see any sight of the other three siblings, so he hurried up the rickety ladder, attached to great old walnut tree, to his wooden treehouse, where surely nobody would see him.

Now, you’re probably thinking that maybe Frederick shouldn’t open the scroll, at least not alone. Maybe it’s a curse, maybe it’s the story of his future if he murders his siblings, maybe it’s a blank sheet of paper, or perhaps it’s a horrible drawing of a fairy princess riding on a rainbow unicorn. All of these options are possible, and maybe you’re thinking of something else that it could be, as there are many things that could possibly be on a single piece of paper.
