Mental health month has given us all the opportunity to take a look at ourselves and understand who we are as a whole and make the improvements and changes necessary for our own benefit. We have looked at a wide range of different elements of health and how they contribute to mental health together. Let’s now recap what we have learned:

What Food To Eat

There are many foods, which can contribute to good mental health. We looked at a wide range of these and how you can incorporate these into your diet in the Certain types of foods said to improve mental health article. From brazil nuts to salmon, we examined the vitamins and enzymes which can contribute to positive mental health as well as your overall health!

How And Why We Should Exercise

The importance of getting out and exercising has been one of most awakening things about mental health month. Not only focusing on intense physical exercise, we also took a look at the exercise which involves walking and light aerobic activity in order to release endorphins and get our bodies moving. Even just one hour a week of exercise has been linked to lower levels of anxiety, stress and mood swings. This contributes hugely to good mental health and helps us to feel motivated.

The Importance Of Sleep

Sleep is vital to feeling ready and prepared for the challenged that lay ahead. We have learnt to find ways to get to sleep more easily and also the benefits of deep sleep on our everyday lives. Sleep plays a big part in our lives and helps us to rejuvenate as well as affecting our learning capabilities and the way we make memories!

How to Reduce Stress

The main element of Mental Health month has been stress. From looking at the effects of stress as well as how to manage and reduce it, stress has been a focal point for this week. A survey made by the Mental Health Foundation found that, ‘over the past year, 74% of people have at some point felt so stressed that they felt overwhelmed or unable to cope.’ This is a very high percentage and shows that something needed to be done to raise awareness of this and to tackle it.

More research is needed as well as dedicated people on board both in schools and working environments to monitor people’s stress and ensure that change happens quickly! This is a leading contributor to poor mental health and can have disastrous effects. Mental health month has drawn attention to how bad stress has become and has made us all realise how important it is to make changes.

What Contributes To Our Well-being

All of the above contribute to well-being as well as taking time for yourself and maintaining a relaxing and stable environment. Ensuring that you have hobbies and activities, which you enjoy as well as people to talk to who have you best interests at heart all contribute to mental health.

Mental health month has been focused on spreading the word and importance of taking care of your own mental health and those around you. Being aware of the consequences of mental health is vital and the way to do that is to spread the word. For more people to be able to help, it is crucial that everyone understands how important it is to destigmatize mental health and be attentive to those who are in need. This will mean that more people get the help that they are looking for and also more people seek help because there is nothing to be embarrassed about.
