DRABBLE
A “Disappointing” Vacation
Today’s random word is Funds.
A Drabble is a work of fiction that is exactly 100 words.
“Kids, we have something we need to tell you.” Dad looked serious. Mom looked sad.
“I lost my job this morning. I’m sorry, but funds are low. We won’t be going to Disneyland this year. Instead, we’ll spend two weeks at my sister’s cabin on the lake.”
Ugh, what a boring vacation. We’d have nothing to tell our classmates when school started.
We spent two weeks fishing, catching frogs, jumping into the lake, and paddling the canoe. Disneyland was the furthest thing from our minds and we were sad to go home.
“Dad, can we do this again next year?”
