We’re looking for contributions from the Firebase community to create great content that will help developers around the world to build better apps using Firebase services. If you’re working on a blog post, or have an exciting idea you’d like to write about and share with a large audience, we want to hear from you!

What we are interested in

We are interested in all types of content, from tutorials on how to use Firebase services, to case studies on how you used Firebase in your apps. We’re looking for content for all levels of developers — from beginner to advanced — and for all platforms we currently support: Android, iOS and other Apple’s platforms, Web, Unity and Flutter!

Here are some examples of articles that we published in our channel:

Please note that we are looking for content that goes beyond what is written in the official Firebase documentation. We want to publish articles that will show developers something new and different than what is already being covered in our documentation, and which gets them excited to build their apps with Firebase.

Style guide

If you are interested in writing for our publication, please take a look at our style guide:

  • No CTAs: We don’t publish content that has personal call to actions. It won’t affect the review of your article, but we will have to remove any personal calls to action if it gets accepted.
  • Code highlighting: If your article has code snippets, please make sure to use Medium’s built-in code highlighting or (if you prefer) GitHub gists.
  • Code explanation: If your article has code snippets, please make sure to explain what’s going on in each piece of code. Try to keep it simple and add only the code that is relevant to the idea you’re trying to convey, instead of showing an entire class or file.
  • Cover image: All articles should have a nice cover image. You can find inspiration by taking a look at our Featured Stories on Medium. Note that each article has a nice image that is related to the topic being discussed. We recommend using Unsplash or Pexels.
  • Language: At the moment we are only publishing articles written in English.
  • Grammar: Feel free to use Grammarly or similar tools to check spelling and grammar.
  • No AI: We won’t accept any AI generated content in our publication.
  • Links: Please add links to all the technologies you mention in your article. Not all readers might be familiar with the technologies you’re using, so it’s always useful to refer to official websites and documentation.

Next steps

When you feel like your blog post is ready to be reviewed, submit it via our submission form. Please allow a couple of days for us to go over the article and review the content. Once we finish reviewing it, we will reach out to you with the decision and next steps.

Bear in mind that once your article gets accepted, we may request some changes to it: in the grammar, in the writing style and sometimes in the technical part, if we identify a problem in the code. If you would like to understand more about how we collaborate with authors when an article is accepted, read our blog post on the editing process.

We look forward to your submissions!
