Growing up in the United States, I always felt compelled to say I’m Irish. After a few days there, I saw that the land of my great grandparents isn’t really my homeland.
How I learned that limiting myself to only English-speaking countries was not only a loss on my part, but also not a particularly effective way of avoiding culture shock.
