Hey photo peeps! Some of you know that I’m experimenting with a new project that reconsiders Instagram as an exhibition space. My goal is to raise awareness of those image-makers doing interesting things with their photography and to fill your Instagram with intriguing, unexpected work, a little bit at a time. Sound promising? Learn more about the project here.

This week: #FlakPhotoFeatures work from Glen Erler’s FAMILY TREE, a series of pictures focused on the photographer’s homeplace and the broader ideas of familial love, connection, and loss. Kehrer Verlag launched the book in 2014 and, up until now, it has only been available in the UK — Fortunately for those of us in the US it made its American debut this spring.

You can follow the feature on @FlakPhoto IG at instagram.com/flakphoto

These are beautiful, haunting, mysterious images — Learn more about them by reading the Paper Journal interview between Glen and photographer Alec Soth. And consider picking up a copy of the book when you have a sec — it’s a perfect addition to your home library. Finally, Glen is sharing tons of great work on his Instagram feed — Follow him @glen_erler and browse the Family Tree Features archive at hashtag #flakphotofamilytree Enjoy!
