An in-depth view of Flunks Backpacks information

Long Story Short

Much information on Flunks Backpacks was released in an earlier article. These basics won’t be covered in depth here so we’ll summarize to make things quicker. If you’d like to read the first backpack article you can find it here. Onto the summary!

  • Flunks Backpacks reveal on August 16th, 7 pm PDT.
  • Every Flunk was eligible to claim a backpack from August 1st and on.
  • There is no deadline to claim a backpack.
  • Once a backpack is claimed that Flunk will no longer have a claimable backpack.
  • Backpacks and Flunks are separate NFTs and are not bound to each other.
  • When purchasing a Flunk you can check its backpack claim status at flunks.io.
  • Each backpack is customizable with patches, pins, and backgrounds.
  • Each backpack has a set number of slots that patches and pins can be placed on. This number of slots ranges from 5 to 20. (Slots can be increased over time) The rarer the Flunk, the more slots its backpack will have.
  • The number of slots a backpack has is determined by its parent Flunk.
  • Flunk Backpacks will be available to list and purchase on the Flunks marketplace, Flunk-E-Mart. (Coming August 29th)

Backpack Traits

When in school it wasn’t common to see all your friends and classmates rocking the same backpack. Sure, there were similar styles and designs, but identical backpacks were hard to come by. (unless you were one of the COOL kids) Flunk Backpacks follow that same concept. Surely your Flunk will be donning a satchel of the same style with a few classmates, but no two backpacks are alike.

There are 40 different backpack bases.

Backpack leaks have been released on a regular basis since they were initially teased, but less than half have actually been seen. Each backpack base is used more than once, but there are 12 backpacks that are more unique than the others. These 12 backpack bases only make up 225 of the 9,999 backpacks. That’s just over 2% of the entire collection!

Each backpack has between 1 and 4 parts that vary in colour/pattern

Just like any good product, backpacks come in different colours. How about a blue teddy bear backpack, with pink paws and heart stitching on its ears? That’s a possible combination!

Each backpack trait can be made up of 27 different colour combinations.

This won’t be the most straightforward thing, but allow me to explain the trait directory. When counting each colour you will notice that “the math is wrong”, and there are 50 different colours in the directory. You’re correct, however, each word you read on the directory is its own trait type. As an example, the word stone is written as one of the traits, but it has three different shades of grey above it. We want the navigation of traits to be simple while keeping a large variety of traits available.

Backpacks have their own rarities

Plain and simple, the solid colours (Plain) are the most common traits. As we work down the directory to Holy Grails, each layer is rarer.
The Plain traits are the most common with a 4 in 7 chance (57.1%) of appearing in one trait slot.
The Pattern traits are the 2nd most common traits with a 2 in 7 (28.6%) chance of appearing in one trait slot.
The Gradient traits are the rarest traits with a 1 in 7 (14.3%) chance of appearing in one trait slot. (Aside from the Holy Grails. There are exactly five Holy Grail backpacks)

There are over 78,000 possible backpack combinations!

As mentioned above each backpack has different trait slots varying in colour or pattern. The more traits a backpack has, the higher the possible combinations it will have. As an example, there are 4,200 possible combinations for the “Everyday Backpack”, but there are only 3,456 possible combinations for the “Combat Backpack”

The Extra Details

The traits have been covered in-depth, now for the extra bits that aren’t so trait related.

  • There is no reward for not claiming backpacks
  • Users holding both Flunks and Flunk Backpacks will receive additional rewards.
  • Backpacks claimed after August 16th, 7:00 pm PDT will not be revealed until August 23rd, 7:00 pm PDT.
