Last Weekend — 24th February — was an interesting day for us at forloop! We had 3 forLoop events in 3 different countries going on on the same day — the army is rising 😏

forLoop Ghana kicked off at around 12pm at Workshed Africa and was themed around Building for Tomorrow, Today. We had an awesome lineup of speakers and a vibrant and expectant audience ready to receive the 🔥 🔥 🔥

The Speakers

We had Rexford NkansahWeb Developer Mesika Gh — set the ball rolling for us by giving an interesting talk on “Progressive Web Applications: The Future Now”. View talk here

We then had Stefan ForelichCTO at Working IT Solutions , Tech Lead PetraTrust— give an insightful talk on “Coding Defensively :Security and Integrity of Software Applications “. Here’s a link to the talk here! There were so many questions and if you have any, you can hit him up on twitter @thedumbtechguy.

We went on a short break before the next two sessions. We had Michael Annor give speak about design — because what’s an application with bad design? His talk was titled “No-Frills Design”. Here’s a link to the slides from the talk.

Our final session of the day was held by Francis Addai — Tech Fellow MEST Africa, Python Ghana Convener. He spoke on “Getting Good(Started) With Git”. Here’s a link to the slides.

Take-aways

There’s still a lot of work to be done with regards to building a community of world class developers across Ghana and Africa, but it’s not impossible! We forge ahead, one meetup/hackathon at a time, moving from universities to cities around the world spreading the 🔥! Soon, this feat will be accomplished and we will look back at times when it looked daunting and laugh!

Let’s build our community together! 💥

Future Plans

ForLoop University of Ghana Hackathon

We plan on having more forLoop events in more cities and universities around Ghana. “We 🇬🇭 get every one in the loop 🔥!”

To this effect, our next event is a Hackathon at the University of Ghana from the 12pm on 9th March — 6pm on the 10th March. You can read more about it and register for the event here.
