After a successful FreshHuddle in March 2019, the Developer Platform team concocted a 2-day FreshHuddle, based on the ideas crowdsourced from app developers aka to-be-participants. Our bellwether episode of the event was the launch of the certification program that certifies Freshworks app developers.

Event highlights

At the outset, the partner induction set the events in motion with a catch-up on the interesting apps the participants developed since the last FreshHuddle. The proceedings were a captivating mix of the hands-on, participant, and moderator driven sessions.

The presenters tested the waters by using live polling to tailor a session in accordance with the developers need; this was an innovation around the time-tested format of developer day presentations.

Minnal talks — A new initiative to have developers from partner organizations or teams share their experiences on building apps for Freshworks’ products was a grand slam with app developers from Effy, Artissol, and the Freshworks onboarding team sharing their experiences. The session served real-time guidelines for the co-attendees on how to get their apps past code review and working with large data sets in the platform’s data storage.

Convivial times — After the immersive Day 1, the evening concluded with a uber-cool networking session and a lively game of bingo that helped the developer community to collaborate, learn, and network.

Be certified! — The certification assessment for experienced solution partners occupied the first half of the second day. The certification programme tested app developers on their knowledge of the platform and the skills required to build apps that exceed the expectations of Freshworks’ customers.

Apps done-done — The app developers and their assigned buddies from the platform engineering and developer relations teams collaborated to solve issues that developers face to take apps to completion and help publish apps faster.

The quip

The event received some meritorious feedback, with an overall rating of 9.3 out of 10 for the sessions. A substantial quantum of attendees attested that by leveraging the apps done-done session, they made progress of more than 50 percent from where they were, on the apps they were working on.
