GET Protocol is entering a new chapter. With this next step we’re preparing for the world stage by focusing on three core values:

  • Maturity
  • Scalability
  • Transparency

These values are critical to achieving our mission of becoming the open data standard for ticketing. The scalability of the protocol in all its facets ensures that business operations are not bottlenecked and our exponential growth can keep up its pace.

At the same time we are more than ever aiming for increased automated transparency in how the protocol operates, from the tech side to the business to the token. Everything is scaling — we are growing up.

Finally we have maturity, going forward we’re vying for the rightful attention of not only those in the cryptocurrency space but the behemoths of the ticketing world. Things are getting serious, GET Protocol is battle hardened with years of experience and it’s time to take it up a notch.

GET Protocol‘s next chapter involves embarking on this journey of maturity. Once the journey is complete not only will the protocol be ready for large scale adoption, but our community and the wider cryptocurrency space will have a clear understanding of how GET Protocol is achieving the global data standard mission. Everything from top level plan, to technical specifics, economic interactions in the protocol and implementation will be clear.

Blockchain ticketing to the fullest

A huge step in this new chapter is upgrading our blockchain solution. After a period of assessment and exploration, we have found a new home for our on-chain tickets: Polygon!

By using Polygon we can scale our NFT ticketing on a global level without having to sacrifice our competitive edge — both in terms of technical or economic approach. The sky’s the limit for the ticket volume processed by GET protocol.

Combined with our (international) traction over the last five years and rapidly expanding markets and users, this step further solidifies GET Protocol’s position as the first mover within NFT ticketing.

Automated transparency across the board

Not only does this move align our ambitions with our on chain activity, having all of our data insightful on-chain allows us to have our metrics tracked and verified even easier than before. Since that’s been a cornerstone of our philosophy from day one, this is a big plus.

The ‘Digital Twin’ Implementation — A really big deal

A big focus for the strategic expansion and worldwide adoption of the protocol has been the smoothening of the white-label integration process. We’ve seen new parties from new countries added recently, with plenty more on the way.

In fact, we can reveal right here and now that the latest white-label candidate to sign on is from the United States of America! More info to follow when they go live.

One area that we have been focusing on is ensuring there are multiple avenues of integration for ticketing companies so that they can benefit from GET Protocol whilst incorporating it into their existing technology stack.

We’ve briefly touched upon this during our last blog and on Twitter and now it’s time to give further details on how this works.

The ‘Digital Twin’ as we dub it, presents GET Protocol’s Non Fungible Ticket infrastructure as a straight forward blockchain plugin, that ticketing companies can utilise. This step opens up GET Protocol for viability amongst ticketing behemoths, which reiterates a theme of this upcoming chapter in the protocol’s future — scalability for mainstream usage.

Lots of headlines, little added value

At this point the use case for NFT ticketing is obvious and acknowledged by big time players and even the giants in the industry. Where the challenge lies now is actually making it happen.

Many parties are talking the NFT ticketing talk, but very few thus far are actually delivering on a scale that adds value for the users. This is understandable as it is a newly emerging use case, but we are looking beyond the short term PR wins and are (still) in it for the long haul.

Our digital twin plug in is the easiest way to remove potential friction for players with existing ticketing tech, who want to get in on the new trend and explore what it might bring to them and their business.

From the protocols perspective, it’s a straightforward in-road into global adoption, as an added layer of business development — on top of large number of white-labelers that will be setting up across the globe.

Scaling the team (that will be scaling the team)

We’re happy to welcome our newest hire who is certainly not an unfamiliar face amongst our community — Jack!

Jack will be joining us to bring a healthy portion of experience, leadership and structure to our blockchain team, ensuring that development progress occurs in an efficient and scalable manner, particularly as the development complexity ramps up over the protocol’s lifespan.

Is there anything you’d like to say to everyone Jack? The floor is yours:

Well. Hello everyone!

It is I, “Jack”, from Telegram. You may remember me from such films as; ‘Exchange Argument # 122’, ‘The Definition of Eventually’ or ‘Competitor Analysis? Not on blog day!’

I love Ramen (the proper stuff from Tokyo, not what you eat in a bear market) and nearly all cue-sports, among other fun and exciting facts about myself, but that’s not what you’re here for. Who am I? Why have I joined GET? Will this make number go up? My surname is Turnbull if that helps, there’s a clue in there.

So what do I do? I’ve most recently been leading a team as the Head of Engineering at a Series A FinTech here in the Philippines, managing the growth, structure, delivery, and transformation of the team from a size of 14 pre-COVID to 32, within a company of around 200 strong. You pick up a few battle scars attempting to do something like that during a period as challenging as COVID (which the events industry is more than familiar with). The most impactful change for scaling was transitioning from a handful of projects under a single technical roadmap to 6 clearly defined teams working on long-term products with independent roadmaps and decentralised decision making. When I heard that GET was planning on going through a similar growth period I reached out and it has turned out to be a great fit so far, so I’m joining GET to throw my efforts towards this growth.

Previous to this I’ve been fortunate to contract for some of the most talented Software Engineering & Product teams in the UK and the knowledge you pick up along the way is unmatched. Sky, Sky Bet, and Times Higher Education would be the ones that some of you may have heard of. To put it another way; when you operate within companies of 500+ engineers consistently delivering high-quality software products week-in-week-out you build a toolbox of patterns, structures, and frameworks that you can re-apply to other organisations when the conditions are right. Although it’s unavoidable to build up some opinions on GET having been on the outside looking in for so long, it’s really my job to put that aside and try and identify the right tool in a given moment to help make the current organisational scaling and maturity roadmap a real success.

With GET I think there’s a fantastic opportunity to become the de-facto digital event infrastructure provider in the world. Bar none. Crypto or otherwise. There is no other company that comes close to delivering this natively on the modern web and frankly without such a strong technical foundation and quality product this wouldn’t even be in scope. I’ve been blown away by the depth of market knowledge within the team from every conversation I’ve had so far, meaning that I’m really only here to decorate the approach, help stabilise the growth that is already underway and offer my experience to this endeavour. Helping achieve this level of global impact is way bigger than anything I could contribute as a community member, so I’m genuinely over the moon that the opportunity arose at the perfect time and that the team have been so open and welcoming.

You’ll have all the time in the world to hear more from me and Engineering @ GET so I’ll wrap it up there for now, but before I do it’s worth saying that I work for the Event Organisers that want better service levels, Ticketing Companies that don’t have the ability to leverage new markets, and also for us as a community. We’re all GET holders and therefore future DAO participants so for now continue to treat me as Jack-the-one-from-the-channel rather than anything more and I’ll remain involved. Even if that means holding my strong opinions fractionally more 😉

Besides Jack’s newly filled position, there are plenty of new openings that still need a suitable candidate. Have a look at the job descriptions and reach out if you or someone you know might be the perfect fit:

Anticipation For June — The NFT Ticketing Explorer

With the move towards scalability through Polygon and maturity of the protocol as the next chapter begins, we can look towards June as an exciting month that will bring with it the hotly anticipated NFT Ticketing Explorer.

The ability to truly showcase to the wider community the inner workings of the protocol has not been possible so far, so this will be a monumental moment in the protocol’s evolution. It will enable a sense of the sheer ticketing magnitude that is operating these events behind the scenes, particularly as this scaling in operations occurs.

Keep your eyes peeled for this announcement in June, we’re busy working on the final touches of class and can’t wait to share this with you! Once released we’ll be making sure to spread the word far and wide so the wider community can truly understand the potency of GET Protocol’s NFT Ticketing.

A Fresh Coat Of Paint

By this point in the blog you may have noticed a little difference with our graphics. Now that we’re well underway on this transformative journey, we figure it’s a good time to really align the visual style of our marketing content. Creating a cohesive brand is important to us so that all shared content is clearly recognisable and stands out from the crowd. We hope you like the new style!

Since we’re redecorating, we are also reviewing our other output, so expect changes to the website and even this blog; which might end up being more to the point (sorry Kasper) in an effort to be accessible to a wider and growing audience.

A Parting Note..

This month’s blog marks the beginning of the next chapter for GET Protocol, all these changes are a part of growing up and taking over the world. We’re glad to have you - the community along for the ride; things are about to get interesting.
